Another Major Update to Cummins 68RFE Transmission Tuning Support
Published on: June 1, 2023Categories: News and Updates
HP Tuners is excited to release another major support update across several Cummins 68RFE transmission platforms.
Applies to: 2007.5-2021+ Dodge Ram/RAM 2500-5500 6.7L Cummins w/ 68RFE Transmission
In early 2021, we released CM2350-2450 w/ 68RFE support that would set the tone for future diesel transmission parameter offerings. This initial release included 344 switches, scalars, and tables (aka parameters). CM2200 subsequently followed in late 2021, posting just over 300 parameters. At that time, the NGC4 TCM 68RFE platform continued to utilize legacy parameter access.
With good feedback and a desire to improve, we set out to further set VCM Suite apart from the competition. As of May 2023, the CM2350 and 2450 68RFE platforms have grown from 344 parameters to 451 parameters total (CM2350 and early 2019-2020 CM2450) and 481 parameters total for late 2019-2021+ CM2450.
Additionally, we decided to improve the support of the earlier 68RFE platforms. CM2200 68RFE increased from just over 300 to 414 parameters in total. A major capability increase was extended to the NGC4 TCM platform. While the parameter count increased from 291 to 336, the greatest advancement was in mapping improvements as well as properly labeling transmission functionality.
Per user feedback, we focused on the following:
CM2200-2450 68RFE Platform:
- Internal control strategies (Partial Lockups, Mode Shift Delays, Sequential Shift Strategies, Clutch Engagement Strategies, etc.)
- Slip timers for clutch packs
- Speed ratio tables
- Full shift schedule mapping
- Shift pressure and duty cycle control
- Improved TCC control
- Lockup timers
- Application delays
- Application RPM per selected mode
- Slip control
NGC4 TCM 68RFE Platform:
- Mapping improvements and better explanation of functionality.
- Internal control strategies (Partial Lockups, Mode Shift Delays, Sequential
- Shift Strategies, Clutch Engagement Strategies, etc.)
- Slip timers for clutch packs
- Speed ratio tables
- Full shift schedule mapping
- Shift pressure and duty cycle control
- Improved TCC control
- Lockup timers
- Application delays
- Application RPM per selected mode
- Slip control
Users can now access these new and updated parameters in the latest version of VCM Suite BETA 5.1.1010 or higher.
