Senior Hardware Engineer 

Job Description

HP Tuners is currently seeking a full-time Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team in Buffalo Grove, IL. At HP Tuners, we develop hardware products to suite the aftermarket needs of automotive enthusiasts.

You will play a key role in crafting and developing the hardware for these systems and should be confident in both rapid prototyping as well as production grade hardware development. To be successful, you must have strong computer skills and should also be detail oriented, accurate in your work and, be able to work autonomously.

This position reports to the Director of Hardware Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prototype and test new hardware designs
  • Perform schematic entry and layout using Altium Designer
  • Prepare PCB projects for manufacturing
  • Debug and validate electronic circuits
  • Work with suppliers to source components and finished assemblies

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is preferred
  • At least 7 years of hands-on experience and a proven track record in hardware development
  • At least 5 years of PCB design experience using ECAD tools (Altium Designer or similar)
  • Extensive circuit prototyping experience
  • Circuit testing and debugging skills
  • Circuit simulation experience is a plus
  • Friendly, flexible, and a team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while meeting required deadlines
  • Good problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

  • Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, carry items from one area to another, occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs.

Regional Sales Manager

Job Description

HP Tuners is a dominant leader in the global automotive aftermarket, and our core function is the development of software and hardware technologies for modern vehicle calibration.

The Channel Sales Manager is responsible for driving sales in the warehouse and high-volume reseller segment by creating awareness and enthusiasm for HP Tuners products and managing and growing existing accounts and pursuing new accounts so that Sales Goals are met in the Segment.

You should also be able to create a sense of urgency and need with your customers and prospects. This position reports to the Director of North American Sales

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing daily work schedule to call on existing and potential Warehouse Distributors and Tunershops
  • Assist with managing and disseminating sales data such as ACES and PIES data to the marketplace Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of Customer
  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of Customers
  • Submits and aids in the processing of orders
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly sales analyses
  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments and marketplace opportunities
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating concerns; developing solutions; making recommendations to management.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of company product portfolio and competing products
  • Travel to prospective and existing customers, establishing, and maintaining strong relationships
  • Create enthusiasm among prospects by displaying the value in HP Tuners products
  • Develop, improve, and perform on-site and virtual customer product demonstrations
  • Attend and work assigned trade shows, races, and other promotional events
  • Up to 75% local and overnight travel required. Weekend travel required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required; Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
  • Valid, permanent driver’s license from state of residence and a clean driving record
  • Knowledge of the latest product, market, competitive and industry trends.
  • Ability to develop a plan to effectively build and work the Sales Funnel and Pipeline
  • Ability to listen to clients, understand their needs and present products to meet objectives
  • Strong cold-calling skills, ability to self-source leads, overcome tough objections, and gain appointments
  • Strong organizational, time-management, presentation, and communications skills
  • Proficiency with mobile apps, the PC, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook 
  • Expert in Channel Management
  • Self-starter with energy and motivation to find, nurture and close sales
  • Keen interest in emerging automotive technologies and Engine/Performance Knowledge
  • Ability to document notes thoroughly for effective follow up with prospects and customers
  • Ability to identify and resolve customer concerns quickly

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel with laptop, climb in and out of low and high vehicles, carry items from one area to another, and speak and actively listen. 
  • Noise level is usually moderate and can be loud at times. 
  • During many events, shows, and customer visits ambient temperature may be uncomfortably hot or cold
  • Capability to lift and carry 75 pounds.

Systems Administrator

Job Description

HP Tuners LLC is a global leader in the automotive aftermarket, developing software and hardware for vehicle calibration. We are growing rapidly and are looking to add a Systems Administrator to our team.

The Systems Administrator is primarily responsible for providing the best end user computing experience possible using the current systems while bringing new ideas to the organization. This position is responsible for assisting with the support of networking and communications technologies and the maintenance of the account maintenance, application services, and the associated hardware systems utilized throughout the facility.

This position reports to the IT Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or assist in the creation of system design and functional specifications for new technology projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations in assessing and implementing new IT hardware and software solutions to support and enhance the business.
  • Work with vendors and business partners to implement quality technology solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software functionality related issues.
  • Identify opportunities that can improve efficiencies of business processes.
  • Document technical procedures and documentation for systems.
  • Conduct and/or partner with the training department to provide quality end user training.
  • Provide assistance and advice to business users and business analysts / project managers.
  • Continually update knowledge and skills by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, networking and attending vendor educational events.
  • Perform other duties within the Information Technology department or other areas as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Observe and enforce all company policies, rules, and safety practices.

Skills and Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or combination of work experience and skill development required
  • Associate degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • At least two (2) years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a related industry.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems and Microsoft Office products.
  • Prior experience with the following:
    • Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory Administration, Microsoft Teams Administration, iPad/Android tablets, laser printers, system imaging, security software, software troubleshooting and administration, and PC peripherals.
  • Knowledge of WAN/LAN routing and networking concepts
  • Excellent troubleshooting/problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn new and developing technologies

Senior Embedded Software Architect

HP Tuners is currently seeking a full-time Senior Embedded Software Architect to join our team in Buffalo Grove, IL. At HP Tuners, we develop hardware and software products to suite the aftermarket needs of automotive enthusiasts.

As a Senior Embedded Software Architect for HP Tuners, you will be working with an experienced cross-disciplinary team that builds cutting edge automotive products from prototype all the way to production. You will be responsible for the firmware architecture for existing embedded devices, as well as helping develop new products. You will be providing technical leadership to a team of firmware developers, as well as working with project stakeholders in order to define requirements and timelines.

This position reports to the Director of Hardware Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the firmware architecture for new, as well as existing embedded products.
  • Provide technical leadership to the firmware development team
  • Overlook the firmware development process
  • Manage project requirements and deadlines. Distribute tasks to firmware development team members.
  • Write Embedded C++ firmware using the latest Object-Oriented Programming features.

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of embedded architecture experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in embedded C++ firmware development
  • Familiar with the latest C++ OOP standards
  • Experience with embedded Real Time Operating Systems
  • Familiarity with the hardware development process. Able to read and understand hardware schematics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus
  • Knowledge about automotive OBD-II communication protocols is a plus
  • Experience developing software for Embedded Android systems is a plus.
