Android Application Developer

Job Description

HP Tuners is seeking an experienced full time Android Application Developer. This position develops new mobile applications, updates, and maintains existing applications, and assists with customer support escalations. We use the native development tools and languages for Android and iOS to achieve the best level of integration, reliability, and business continuity. Continual improvement, with an emphasis on user experience, is very important to us as we strive to be the best in our industry.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with a cross-functional team to design and develop new android mobile applications
  • Update and maintain existing mobile applications
  • Assist with customer support escalations
  • Be proactive, anticipate issues in advance, and prioritize the user experience

Skills and Qualifications

  • Ability to take initiative and work autonomously on projects
  • Good problem solving and debugging skills
  • Android native development experience (Android Studio with Java)
  • Strong understanding of OOP and OOD
  • UI/UX design experience
  • 4+ years experience
  • Passion for automotive and/or motorsports
  • Experience with CAN and other automotive communications protocols
  • Knowledge of engine and transmission operation
  • Candidate must have good communication skills and be familiar with email and other online communications tools.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Job Description

HP Tuners is currently seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Buffalo Grove, IL. At HP Tuners, we develop hardware and software products to suit the aftermarket needs of automotive enthusiasts.

This position reports to the Director of Powertrain Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide directions on best practices and design for manufacturing (DFM) from concept to product launch
  • Provide best working practice in layout, development and best practices of high-tech injection and cast molding
  • Provide best working practice in thermal and vibration modelling for electronic modules
  • Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
  • Execute multiple ongoing projects while staying within project budgets and schedules
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
  • Keep up with the latest tools and programs; perform technical research and self-training as needed

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or in a related field
  • 2-5 years of experience working in electronic engineering discipline
  • Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products
  • Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively and clearly

Senior Embedded Software Architect

Job Description

HP Tuners is currently seeking a full-time Senior Embedded Software Architect to join our team in Buffalo Grove, IL. At HP Tuners, we develop hardware and software products to suite the aftermarket needs of automotive enthusiasts.

As a Senior Embedded Software Architect for HP Tuners, you will be working with an experienced cross-disciplinary team that builds cutting edge automotive products from prototype all the way to production. You will be responsible for the firmware architecture for existing embedded devices, as well as helping develop new products. You will be providing technical leadership to a team of firmware developers, as well as working with project stakeholders in order to define requirements and timelines.

This position reports to the Director of Hardware Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the firmware architecture for new, as well as existing embedded products.
  • Provide technical leadership to the firmware development team
  • Overlook the firmware development process
  • Manage project requirements and deadlines. Distribute tasks to firmware development team members.
  • Write Embedded C++ firmware using the latest Object-Oriented Programming features.

Skills and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of embedded architecture experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in embedded C++ firmware development
  • Familiar with the latest C++ OOP standards
  • Experience with embedded Real Time Operating Systems
  • Familiarity with the hardware development process. Able to read and understand hardware schematics.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus
  • Knowledge about automotive OBD-II communication protocols is a plus
  • Experience developing software for Embedded Android systems is a plus.

Senior Firmware Engineer

HP Tuners is currently seeking a full-time Senior Firmware Engineer to join our team in Buffalo Grove, IL. At HP Tuners, we develop hardware and software products to suite the aftermarket needs of automotive enthusiasts.

As a Senior Firmware Engineer at HP Tuners, you will be working with an experienced cross-disciplinary team that builds cutting edge automotive products from prototype all the way to production. You will be writing firmware for existing devices, as well as helping develop new products from the ground up.

This position reports to the Director of Hardware Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop firmware for new embedded products.
  • Work with the hardware team on testing and bringing up prototypes.
  • Contribute to the part selection and evaluation process for new products.
  • Support existing embedded products.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in embedded C/C++ firmware development
  • Experience working with low level microcontroller peripherals
  • Experience with Source Control tools
  • Experience with embedded Real Time Operating Systems
  • Knowledge of automotive OBD-II communication protocols is a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field is a plus
