Can 2015 6L80e be flashed back to 2009?

Installing a 2015 6L80e (t43) into my 2009 vehicle. I have everything to adapt my T42 TCM to the new T43 in the 6L80e. One thing Im wondering about is if the 2015 T43 can be flashed back to my 2009 year?

I've read conflicting info and would like to get it figured out before I dive in and get myself into a bind. My vehicle uses E67 PCM if it matters.

    Thanks!

Will there be any issue with my vehicle (PCM) license if I swap to a different TCM?

Is there a better way to get support from HP Tuners?

This isn't really a support question. You should not flash your 2015 TCM to a 2009 OS. You will brick it.

Ok, thanks for your input! I had read that on one forum, but then read on another that it would be fine. So just didn't know what to expect.

Was also wondering if I would have licensing issues by swapping transmissions/TCMs? Or does my HP Tuners license not really care about which TCM?

You shouldn't need an extra license.

So I decided not to use the 2015 transmission. I purchased a 2011 6L80e to use. I cross referenced the transmission part number, and it looks like this was used in 2008-2012 trucks.

Based on that info, I should be able to flash the 2011 TCM to 2009 OS?

I wouldn't. What's preventing you from using the 2011 OS?

Well, I honestly don't know. This is my first swap of this nature, and I have just read to make sure that PCM and TCM run the same year OS?

Maybe it is the same OS already?

I looked up the transmission part number, and used a GM parts catalog to lookup which valvebody/TCM it uses. Part number for TCM is 24241890.

Looks like that number is used in everything from 2008 G8 GT, to 09-10 CTS-V, to 2008-2012 GM truck and SUV.

My PCM is a 2009 E67, which is the same used in 09-10 CTS-V cars.

Maybe I'm over thinking this... Just trying to get an action plan together on this swap.

There was a change around 2012 where the TCM cant accept older, say 2008 OS, and a 2008 won't accept say 2012. Flashing with a Tech2, not HP, if it won't go it will error and not finish. I've never bricked one putting the right one back in. Of course if the ECM/TCM ever fails, do not remove power or shut the ignition off! Not that I'm advocating trying it, or guaranteeing it to not brick.

Yes, the ECM/TCM needs to have the same VIN in them or weird issues arise...
