I had my MVPI Pro for about a week now and logging to the laptop is working
great however I cannot get it to log in standalone mode. I have followed the
instructions in the "MPVI Pro Standalone Data Logging" section of the help
file, another set of similar instructions I found on a form, and I
even took the MPVI in the house and set it up with a table of only about 10
things I wanted to log for an autocross. Still nothing.
When connected to the PC I have a power light and see the busy light flash
if I am saving configs or clearing the logs. There is no power light with
the car running and the MPVI plugged into just the OBD II port (not the USB cable).
I have version 2.22.3152.18236 & 2.23.147 Beta on two laptops both running W7. I have the separate drivers downloaded and installed on both.
I have tried different times holding the record button down from less that a
second to 1, 2, 3, 4 and more seconds.
I have read the VCM and saved the file from my 2005 Cavalier but have not
licensed anything yet. From what I have read this should not be an issue.
Am I missing something? If I am you can just get me a link or the page in
the instructions and I will give it another go.
---below is the reply from support---
We recently found that our spi chip maker(the chip that holds the standalone
datalogging memory) changed the chip id number, we are working on a fix for
this via a firmware update.

HP Support (Bill) also said that he has seen this issues effects serial numbers that start with 1120 & 114X.
I was sent 2.23.150 beta to fix an issue with the VCM Scanner not reading older (2.22) log files. The log file issue has been fixed but I have not tested the standalone logging yet.
