    HP Tuners Virtual VE Support added to 2.25.1063+ Beta

    I've added the ability to view virtual VE tables to VCM Editor.

    VCM Editor->Edit->Virtual Volumetric Efficiency

    I'm posting this early before the tool is completely done so I can get early feedback in case the design approach I'm taking isn't the desired approach of the end users.

    Also, I'd like some testing to verify the #'s being generated are correct.

    Things that are still work in progress:
    virtual ve -> coefficient transformation
    Ability to edit the axis
    copy/paste

    Does the VE naturally go to that RPM or is that a scaled thing? Do you have any more information about the accuracy of it etc.

    I'm familiar with bluecats interface, but I'm tweaking it a bit for our own design.

    The purpose of this early release is to get feedback from you, the users, on how you want to see it.

    I just slapped in those axis for UI testing. I'll likely determine points based on the zone tables. I could do it real nice so each zone has a decent amount of points, but you would end up with funky looking axis that have uneven gaps and does not scale linearly. It would however be scaled properly on the visual 3D graph view.

    The table looks very similar to what I see in bluecat's program. Can we have the two table overlay like in bluecat so we can see the table change through cam position?

    Overlaying won't be happening for the initial release.

    from what I see everything looks good, a little on the slow side with respect to changes. Should definitely save a bunch of time swapping between programs.
    one question. When we make changes to the vve tables in the editor will it automatically make changes within the tune, or will we still be forced to copy and paste as we previously did? Also will we be able to use different ve table formats, like ls1,ls2, etc, or will these tables be specific to the vehicle?

    Making changes still isn't enabled. I'll update the original post when that feature is complete.

    You will not have to copy/paste for the changes to commit.

    You will be able to configure the axis.

    I wasn't planning on allowing the axis to be swapped though. I'm partial to RPM being on the top. It wouldn't be too much work to allow the axis to be swapped though if enough people hated it.

    With what limited ability there is right now, it looks normal. I see you've inverted the axis setup so the 3D display reflects LS1 format (whereas the E40 ECMs have them differently). It might be nice to have the option of editing the display. For the equation based VE systems, when I convert them to custom OS, they retain the E40 style display. IMO, you should standardize all of them... maybe switch E40 to have RPM on top.

    While we're at it (and I'll forget if I don't mention it), why do E40s have a split VE table in the custom OS? Not possible to just combine the table in the editor and let it split them out behind the scenes?

    I like it a lot...and once we can edit the axes...I will be thrilled. I am partial to the RPM axis on top as well...but if you inverted it I would still use it.

    In EFILive, they have 1 2 and 3 bar tables you can edit...and when you edit any one, the equations are all changed for it, and there's a warning about not editing the others...I never liked that...this is simpler...configure the axis EXACTLY how I want it, edit, commit changes and done. Plus this doesn't limit me to a specific MAP range that I'll only ever hit part of...if I'm going to run 20PSI on an engine, I can make 240 KPA the max in the table. If I'm going to run 10 PSI, then my max can be 170 KPA. If I'm tuning something that revs to 6500...there's no need to build a table to 8000...probably just to 6600. I like what you're doing here a lot.

    When I log in to download this, I see that 2.24 is the latest suite to download. How do I go about downloading this Beta version to check it out?

    I would like to try the beta but would rather not disrupt the current version I am running. Is there a way to download this beta version (assume I will have to send a request to support) without impacting my current program/file structure?

    Currently only have one computer....

    Thanks,

    The beta installs side by side next to VCM Suite 2.25. They do not overlap.

    Can you make it so 2.24 is the default? Any time I have the beta installed, it always sets itself up as the default, even if I install 2.24 afterwards. Off topic, I know.

    Any idea what kind of processing time will be required to convert the table to coefficients?

    I've wondered this as well. Makes it a little harder to get visually extrapolate into the higher boost regions with the split VE. In the past I have made an Excel spreadsheet to combine both VE and Boost VE into one table and graph for me but doing so in the editor would be much nicer.

    I will comment further on this Beta release once I get home and check it out.
