VCM Controls

Understanding the colors

	MIL is commanded to ON by the user.
	MIL is commanded to OFF by the user.
	MIL has no direct command from the user.

How to Use

To toggle the command, simply click the buttons. To disable an active command, click the active colored button.

Warning

Misuse of VCM Controls can cause vehicle damage. These controls are LIVE and make changes instantaneously! Be sure to use them carefully.

Types of VCM Controls

Single Shot: This type of command is a one click deal. An example of this command is the Reset Fuel Trims.
On/Off: On/Off commands have 3 modes. On, Off and no control. When you command a function to off, the Off button will remain lit. Click the off button once again to release control of the command. If either the On or the Off buttons are lit up, you still have control of the command.
Up/Down Value: Up/Down values have 2 sets of arrows next to the value. The smaller set will change the value in small increments, the larger set will change the value in larger increments. When the control is commanded to on, every click of the arrow sends a command to the vehicle. Try to avoid extremely fast clicking of the arrows. A conservative rate of change speed will help the software and vehicle stay connected when controlling values.

General VCM Controls

Transmission VCM Controls

TCC Solenoid: Command the Torque Converter Clutch solenoid.
TCC PWM On/Off: Command the Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulation.
TCC PWM Level: Vary the Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulation level.
Force Motor (mA): Command the force motor milliamps.
Trans Adapt: Trigger reset of the adaptive pressure cells.
Trans Fast Adapt: Trigger reset of the adaptive pressure cells.
A4 Gear Force: Command an individual gear.
1-2 Shift Solenoid: Command the 1-2 Shift Solenoid.
2-3 Shift Solenoid: Command the 2-3 Shift Solenoid.
CAGS (M6) or 3-2 Solenoid (A4): Command CAGS on M6 vehicles or the 3-2 Shift Solenoid for A4 vehicles.
Reverse Lockout: Command reverse lockout.
CAGS: Command the CAGS (skip shift) solenoid
HS Driver 1: Command the High Side Solenoid 1
HS Driver 2: Command the High Side Solenoid 2
Clutch 1 Solenoid: Command the Clutch Solenoid 1
Clutch 2 Solenoid: Command the Clutch Solenoid 2
Clutch 3 Solenoid: Command the Clutch Solenoid 3
Clutch 4 Solenoid: Command the Clutch Solenoid 4

Fan VCM Controls

Fuel & Spark VCM Controls

Closed Loop: Command closed loop operation.
Fuel Trim Learn: Command fuel trim learn.
Reset Fuel Trims: Zero all short term and long term fuel trims. This will reset all learned fuel modification values.
Fuel Pump: Command the fuel pump.
Fuel Pump - Hi: Command the fuel pump hi mode of operation.
Secondary Fuel Pump: Command the secondary Fuel Pump relay (if fitted).
Fuel Pump PWM Level: Command the Fuel Pump PWM duty cycle (if variable speed fuel pump fitted).
Spark Control - Absolute: Command the absolute spark value.
Spark Control - Plus: Command the amount of degrees to be added to the current calculated spark value.
Spark Control - Minus: Command the amount of degrees to be subtracted from the current calculated spark value.
Spark Idle Control: Command the spark advanced method for idle operation.
AFR Control: Command the desired Air Fuel Ratio.
Wait to Start: Command the Wait to Start lamp on the cluster
Glow Plug: Command the Glow Plug.

Special VCM Controls

Cylinder Balance: The cylinder balance test calculates % of efficiency using current RPM. RPM is gauged with all injectors running normally. Injectors are then cut 1 cylinder at a time and the new RPM is compared to the pre-test RPM to determine % of efficiency. To use this test the main scanner must be stopped. You must also control the IAC steps as well for consistency.
Idle (IAC) Control RPM: Force a desired idle RPM.
Idle (IAC) Control Steps: Force the IAC motor to this position. This control is also used for the cylinder balance test.
Idle (IAC) Control TPS: Force the IAC motor to this position. This control is also used for the cylinder balance test.
CASE Learn: To use the CASE learn function please follow these steps:
1. Put the vehicle into park (auto) or neutral (manual).
2. Turn off all accessories and A/C.
3. Turn the vehicle off.
4. Apply the parking brake.
5. Press the brake pedal. Keep the brake pedal depressed during the entire procedure. REQUIRED for successful test completion
6. Start the vehicle and let it idle.
7. Press Begin.
8. Gradually rev the vehicle to fuel cutoff (around 4000-5000 RPM's) over a period of about 4 seconds. When fuel cuts out, immediately release the throttle.
9. Allow the engine to come back to an idle.
10. Turn the ignition off for at least 15 seconds. This step is required for the VCM to store the newly learned configuration.
