File Compare

VCM Suite has a very powerful file comparison utility. Using the compare feature of VCM Suite will give you a very quick overview of differences between any two files you may have.

Major points of VCM Suite file compare:

You can compare any files regardless of make/model/operating system
When comparing files of different operating system, only parameters of similar types are compared
For tables to be compared they must be of the same dimensions in both files
DTC differences will not be compared.

Opening a File

After you open a file for comparison, you will have 3 separate views for display.
You can access these views from the tool bar in the main VCM Editor window and also under the compare menu.
The views are also located in each table display you open. When you toggle the compare view of a table display it will only affect that table display. To change the display view of all your open parameters you must use the main VCM Editor window view states.

Toolbar

	View the main calibrations values.
	View the compare file calibration values.
	View the differences between the main file and the compare file calibration values.

Comparison Log

For a quick overview of differences and similarities you can use the comparison log.
Only parameters supported by both calibration and of similar types are displayed.

To easily copy over differences from the compare file onto your primary file,
Left click the parameter our group, then right click and select Copy over Differences.
When copying over differences between files of different operating system ID's,
some parameters may copy over close but not exact. In this case the parameter will still show up in the list.

Toolbar

	Save the differences log to a text file.
	Print the differences log.
	Show differences in the comparison summary.
	Show similarities in the comparison summary.
