    KR on a 2001 Firebird V6

Has anyone seen significant KR on a 3800 Series II engine. I get it with 93 octane gas at WOT from 4000 -6000 rpm. Some times as high as 4* but usually 2*-3*. This is with a stock PCM (except for speed cal, and limits raised). I just loaded my spark tables with 1* less in those ranges to try and get rid of it.

Two questions, anyone else see this and any sugestions on getting rid of it?

User the histogram (that thing is awesome), and find exectly where in the rpm band and at what airflow it's happening at, and pull timing in those spots. That's all we can do for now.

Also, I was getting some tip-in knock, and knock at cruise (out here in Mew Mexico in the afternoon (hot)). I have my MAF screen removed, and throttlebody ported, and I had a lightbulb moment (screen removed = more air coming in - duh).

I'm not sure of the exact amount of actual increase, but I increased my MAF airflow amounts by +2.5%. That seemed to help, and I have it increased 3% from stock right now, which is probably where I'll leave it.

That has made a big difference. The knock seems to be gone, and the performance in general is better.

If you have your screen removed, and want to do this,
use the "times" and "all" functions (you'll see what I mean) on the MAF Airflow table.

To increase your airflow by 2.5%, multiply the values by 1.025. To increase 3%, multiply by 1.03, etc.

Big warning, though, if you want to try other values after you've increased it once, cut and paste the stock values into the tables FIRST, then make your new adjustment.

And, remember, increasing the MAF Airflow values will increase the amount of fuel (richer)

Decreasing the MAF Airflow values will decrease the amount of fuel (leaner)

    Hope that helps some.
