Does anyone here know what signals and levels need to be manipulated to reflash the EECs thru the J3 service port?

if i knew that i could makeb a milliom dollaes. eec iv or eec v ?
Interested in both types.
Winston, welcome to the board...
Are you familiar with the PWM protocol? I would assume its a similar process GM uses with VPW...
I'll see if I can dig up some PWM protocol spec.

Ok.. Ford uses J1850 PWM just like GM's J1850 VPW.. so I believe the packet protocols are the same.
Now, does ford use the same standards that GM uses? Are they obligated to do so?

Sorry I do not know if the protocols are the same over the OBD-II port.
I am interested in the J3 service port. At the back of the Ford EEC's is a service port with the processor bus brought out, it is a 'piplined' sort of a custom Intel bus. On this bus is the FLASH program store with the callibration tables..hence my interest in being able to reflash the EECs thru this port. At one time this port was probably used for program development and later for manufacturing programming of the EEC. In the latest EECs they seem to be programming the units at unit test on a bed of nails at the in circuit test at the end of the IR reflow station. The J3 port is probable left on there for repair/reman. The latest EECs no longer have the port and we will have to learn how to get in at the OBD-II port sooner rather than later a chipping a Ford computer will become more difficult.
