16lbs boost and 22 degrees of timing. Too much?

So my new WS6 was at 18 degrees of timing when I got it, and was thinking about making a race gas tune for it. So first I wanted to make sure that I was already running as much timing as I could on pump gas. I made several runs, and each time I increased it 1 degree until finally I was up to 22 (well actually 21.5), and not once did it even show a blip KR. That just didn`t seem right to me, so I decided to stop. My retard and knock sensor settings are not too different than a stock tune. I generally have an ear for knock, and I didn't hear any, but that's arbitrary.

So does anybody think it's reasonable that it can run 21.5 deg. of timing with 16psi and not have any KR, or is something not right?

All depends on CR, intake air temp, afr, rpm, heads, exhaust restriction.

You're right, sorry. Here are some more details: IAT around 105 deg, WOT from about 3000-6000rpm, 10.9-11.4 afr, ported 243 heads, long tubes, no cats, hooker muffler. I do not know the CR. It has stock stroke, but maybe it has low compression pistons.

Don't trust your knock sensors, that is pretty high IMO for pump fuel. Does it feel like it picked up from the 18 to 21.5?

I couldn`t really tell a difference by the "seat of the pants" feel. Last night I continued the saga of raising timing, and got to 25 deg (24.5) and still not a even a blip of knock! I still could not hear any knock either. I don't know what to think.
I know on my LS2 I heard it knock plain as day when I turned up the boost a little too much.

Oh and here is my tune.

If you are not seeing any performance gain (hp/tq or track time/mph) why do you want to keep putting timing in it?
    I am just curious.

Quit adding timing if you don't feel it gain anything, your probably past MBT and its not doing any good.

Just reference seen a car at 28 degrees timing with 200 degree IATs on 10 lbs not show any knock, However there was a lot of detonation and the motor had to be redone.

Well I don`t really have much faith in my "sotp" testing abilities, but I do know that running the most timing possible without detonation is ALMOST always going to mean more power. Plus or minus 50hp is kinda hard to detect by sotp, especially since I haven't had the car a long time. I haven't done any track or dyno testing with these timing changes. I guess that's what I need to do, but even then, I would like to see my knock sens are working. Maybe I'll increase their sensitivity and see what happens?

How do you increase the sensitivity?

You should put in a new spark plug go balls out, turn car off once you let off the gas and pull the plug and see what it looks like. I'm tuning my centri blower with meth and I'm around 12 degrees with no knock around 4k rpm. Stock internals LS6 with headers.

you could take it to the track and add timing until you dont see any more gains in mph.. then back it off 1-2 degrees
