Just did H&C: wont start now: HELP!!!!!!!!

I need some help guys. I just installed a set of heads and cam on my friends Firehawk. It has a IC vortech SC. Right now it has the vortech tune. It ran great before the H&C swap. So I was wondering of some basic things to check for with my hpt software cause right now it won't start. It pops and thats it. I'm gonna drain the tank and put some fresh gas for starters cause the car has sat for over a year with very little gas in it. Any help you can give would be great.

waht size cam? you prob need to decrease the idle area fueling somewhat, and increase the idle airflow.

when you say that it pops???
do you mean that it starts and makes a poping noise??like a backfire pop??
or it wont start and all you get is a poping sound??
describe what happens on startup in a little more detail...
make sure you have all your wires reconnected correctly too...

    we just need more details

I think I'd spend some time on the old school
basics before getting too into the tuning. The
fuel line, maybe wants purged (Schrader until
it comes out bubble free and clean, and a nice
not-brown color; an Actron fuel pressure gauge
from AutoZone has a nice long discharge hose
in the kit, and you will also know you have good
rail pressure). The spark stuff, "should" sort itself
out unlike old rotary distributors where one of
two TDC points is not the one you want. But a
timing light clamp-on will tell you not only the
point of firing, but that it -is-.

it will turn over and pop threw the muffler, it does not start what so ever.I pulled a plug and the plug was a little wet and the gas didn't smell right. So I have to figure out a easy way to drain the tank. I put dry gas in it but it didn't seem to do the trick. Thafact that I got a pop out of it makes me think that I have spark, and the wet plug I pulled makes me think it's getting fuel. I think the gas may be stale but if there's anything you can think of to check that would be great

may be getting spark but not full spark? make sure all is plugged up right and you didnt crack any of the plugs. i would go through the cam tuning files and do the basic first car start up tunes once you decide its not anything mechanical, if that is the case

are you sure you aligned the marks on the cam and crank properly. it could be the cam out of timing with the bottom end which would cause it to pop through the exhaust if its firing when the exhaust valve is open

Take that fuel pressure gauge I mentioned, put it
on the Schrader & jumper the fuel pump relay, let
the pump run and blow out the gasoline into a can
(run it in the beater or something) through the
    blow-off tube?

If you really suspect the gas has gone that bad,
you may want to get the rail out and make sure
it's clean. The Schrader will only really purge one
side. If the rails are full of gum the only place for
it to go is the injector filter screen....

If the tank is realy near empty then maybe just fill
it up with fresh and let the little bit of crummy gas
    burn through.

I must agree with the above, I had a buddy whose Boneville with over 100,000 miles on it sit for exactly one year with almost no gas in it, we changed the battery and it started right up. In fact when I say no gas, it didn't even make it 2 miles to the gas station before it ran out. Mixing fresh gas in the tank should dilute any bad gas plenty well enough to start it.
