    Benchtop Programming

Anyone have or have seen a cool and easy setup to be able to program PCM's out of the car?

any gm or chev dealer will be able to order one for you
but it will be expensive (kent moore is general motors special service tools)

why not just to to a wrecking yard, get yourself some vcm connectors and the underdash aldl connector, some alligator clips and a toggle switch and a wire diagram.

thought about doing that, but if I can find something simpler that will work on what I want to do I rather do that.

    Re: Benchtop Programming

the kent moore tool was originally issued for programming cadillac pcm, had to be done that way due to some of the on board modules would not shut down and interfered with programming. I have also used the module to program a 1999 malibu pcm as well as 2002 truck, had to add additional connector for the 2004 truck pcm. Really all you need is power, ground and serial data though. If you need part number for pcm connectors let me know.

    Re: Benchtop Programming

We built our own in house. It has several connectors, allowing us to do every PCM from 1997 through 2005.

My man Dan designed and built it, and he calls it the P.I.M.P. - PCM Interface Module Prototype. He says the PIMP is unstoppable...
