    Autotap= LOG...    HPtuner = LOG + Scan.

    I just ordered my HP Tuner today & I'm trying to figure out
    whats different than the Autotap I've used for years...

    With Autotap I can view info on my laptop & when I want to
    record info, I hit the space bar to start logging.
    Than I look at the log in Excel.

    After reading HP Tuner help, I'm lost.

    I can Scan & record a scan.
    I can record a log.

    SCAN = LOG ?
    Or are these two different records ?

    Someone break me out of my Autotap mindset.
    Or guide me to info, to figure this out ?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    With HP Tuners you will be able to view the info as well in real-time just like Autotap. You will also be able to Log the data to be reviewed later in excel or within the VCMScanner software.

    So, basically the scanner works the same as Autotap as far as viewing, logging is concerned but with real-time graphing, histograms, and other nice features.

    If you hit the play button it sill start scanning and will also log, but it is up to you to save those logs or they will be lost when you exit the program or start a new scan.

    I believe the record button just does the same thing as the play button right now. In the future I think you will use the record button to start and stop datalogging, so you can have one CVS file with multiple starts and stops. This way you can get ride of the crap while logging. It may also record to a file in real time that way you don't loose the data if you do something stupid, like shut the car off before saving (I've done this to many times it's not even funny ).

    I am a first time user of this and a friend has the AutoTap. You can save log of the file so that your HP Tuners can review it and if you want to see it in an excel file then all you need to do is choose "Export" to save it as a .CSV file! I hope I helped in some way!!
