100 mm MAF intake air temperature reading high

For anyone running the card style 100 mm MAF's you have probably noticed that the IAT reads about 15* or so higher than your stock MAF/IAT. HP Tuners gave us a new table in the 512kb & 1024kb LS1 platforms that you can use to adjust the IAT scalar.

I tried this yesterday and it works great. I lowered the entire stock table by 15% and I ended up within 1* of ambient. Heat soak at stop lights had its normal rise and once moving it drop like it used to with the old 85 mm MAF.

You need the newest Beta software to do this change. It is in the engine diagnostics section under airflow.

is it always 15% or does that change in reference to some other variable?

Here is a screen shot of the stock table, it is based on temperature and sensor resistance. I lowered the stock temperature by 15% (select all and multiply by .85) across the board in reference the the resistance in the table.

    New Editor
    512kb & 1024kb LS1 platforms received
    Options matrix
    Platform type switch
    Fan recirc switch
TPS High & Low fail constants
About a dozen new rolling idle tables and constants
    IAT Scalar table

    E38 & E67 pcm’s received
Roughly 50 new tables described here http://www.hptuners.com/forum/showthread.php?t=28498
    E37 support released
    2009+ Allison TCM support released
    2011 Camaro/Corvette TCM support released

Ugh..I really wanna fix the temp on my MAF. The lowest I EVER see temp wise is about 99*F when its about 83-85 outside. Driving I'm lucky to see under 104*

It's really messing with my tuning as well. Every time my IAT gets up to 120+ the car goes lean making idle tuning quite difficult.

I cannot find the beta option anywhere on the site.

    You have to email:

    [email protected]

I just sent them an email today requesting access to this beta - I included the serial number from my interface, so now I will just wait until they get to it.

Would this include purchasing a PowrMaf 100?
If that is the case... are there any other methods of 'calibrating' the IAT to function properly?
I do not see the IAT Scalar with this LS6.

I am not sure, I think it would. The temp issue is PCM related.

Go to engine diagnostics and then airflow, that is where the IAT sensor cal table is located.

Do you have the latest beta software?
What PCM and which OS are you using?

as for the PCM, you know, I have never really understood which version. And dont know how to verify...
E38? Is there a reference list somewhere?

I am using the latest beta download.

I know this is old, but I was not aware of this problem till I started tuning my card maf. Thanks for bringing it up.

    I took some readings today:

    Ambient temp: 62 deg F
CARD MAF reported IAT: 82 deg F

When reading your IAT from the MAF you have to start scanning and take the IAT reading inmediately just after switching ignition on. Otherwise the reading will get skewed due to the heat produced by the MAF.

Will take another reading later on today for reference

Nice & thanks for bringing it back up, it never crossed my mind. I just checked a couple of cold start BRAF logs, key on not started.....13*C positive.

bump on this thread cutting the IAT table by 15% worked like a charm thanks SEARCH function and most importantly the OP
