    4cyl update

Hi guys, time for an update on the 4cyl support.

I have just completed testing of reading/writing both older style large VPW PCM's and also the newer small style VPW PCM's. I believe this covers everything 2.2L and 2.4L from 97 to 04 (and maybe 05). Read time is ~2mins and calibration write is ~30secs.

Please note, this does not mean we will be supporting every vehicle from 97-05.

Ok so it's time to make some decisions on what vehicles will be supported first. Now is the time vote with your VIN#.

What i need is everyone who is interested or has friends who are interested to EMAIL me their VIN# (and their buddies). This is the method we will use to decide the first supported vehicles and years. The vehicles with the highest number of votes will be supported first. Votes will be counted in about 2 weeks so please email me ([email protected]) right away.

As you can probably imagine, there is a HUGE amount of calibrations out there for 4 cyl vehicles and we simply cannot support everything.

Also, as far as software support goes the 4cyl will not be supported in 1.x, it will only be supported in 2.x and later.

Thanks for your patience guys, i know it has been a long road but just one more turn and we are on the home stretch.

    Cheers,

    Chris...

Ok I know that you said before that you would start focusing on the 4 cyl. stuff after 2.0 was completed and ready to go...So does this mean that you guys are ready for 2.0 ;D ... I'm ready to get this stuff going. BTW I just sent an e-mail for 4 cyl support.

This might be a good idea to post on S10/Colorado and Cavalier/Cobalt forums ... or any other I4 GM forums.

I hear there is an option bit turned off in the calibration to "make V8 power"?

    Is this true?

None at this stage Brian. Holden sources their 4cyl stuff from the Opel (euro) market not the US.

    Re: 4cyl update

Hi Chris. I am from Venezuela and I have a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 Coupe with 2.4L (LD9) engine with a manual transmission. The car is equal to USA ones with a simple difference in the first (country) and the six (production correlative) numbers in the VIN number, the others number are the same.

Do you think that could be useful that I send you my VIN number?

send it in, often the calibrations are different due to different emmisions laws.

    Re: 4cyl update

Do you guys have a timeframe on this release? I'm torn betweeen your system and standalone right now do to a pissy ECU programming by GM. Please get this out soon.

Oh and I'd be happy to beta test for you I have plenty of dyno access (5 within an hour and a half of me) and have done some programming on the Holley Commander 950 and AEMs software in the past.

Also about your answer, I have some doubts that maybe you can clarify me:

1.- with my VIN number do you know if my stock ECU could have a non-american calibration?

2.- will be harmful for my engine to use an ECU with american calibration different than used in my country? As a note unleaded gasoline here in Venezuela is 95octane, and I think that is a litter high in octane than in USA. Does our high octane gasoline could affect something?

I appreciatte your comments about this.

    Best Regards,
