Will your tuner work with my locked Ed Wright PCM ?
If not, is there someone I can send it to, to unlock it besides Ed Wright.
Thanks,
Dave

Mostly stock - K&N air intake, TTech engine mount, 2nd cat 'cored', E47.5 tune, Lighter - wheels/tires/rotors.

You can generally overwrite the existing tune but he messes with the checksums and most tuning software will not touch it as it is too risky. The checksums are your only method to ensure you are dealing with a valid bin file. (Especially with the 8 Segment 99+ bins)
Are you wanting to edit his tune? Otherwise you should be able to overwrite it with a stock tune or one that you have modified with no issues.
Somebody should bitch-slap all who lock tune files.
Publicly posting a good method to read and check
them would be The Hand.
But, the repository might already hold something
for you that's as good or better than a mail-order
best-guess.
Cool...
Don't need the Ed Wright tune.
I'll just write over it.
So this is a 100% certain deal with an Ed Wright 1998
locked PCM.
I can just write over Ed's 'tune' with HP Tuner ?
I know 'edit' can't do it.
Thanks,
Dave

Only thing is, with '98s you need to be very careful
about where you pick up that stock tune from, there
are several different OS variants that are incompatible.
There are warnings about this, I've seen but never
bothered with the practical details. But you should
be able to get one that works; just "safe sex"....
