    Read of BCM

Not sure if this has been requested already, but it would be nice if HPT could read BCM codes. For example, ABS errors. Not sure if it is even possible, but the Tech II can

Really special if I could edit things in it. For example DRL's! (Probably not possible)

    Thanks for your consideration.

Yeah, and teach it to squawk out the "sport button" code
(under some sort of electrical input) while yer at it!

Was this request asking too much? The main thing I was looking for was to read the errors from the BCM. I didn't think this was an unreasonable request.

Reading codes from the BCM is not unreasonable at all.

We'll look into it and see what we can do.

    Re: Read of BCM

I have AE and it is very good for the money. I bought it because it was so cheap and the Ford coverage was really good. They are constantly improving and adding new coverage. Still for all around coverage on multiple makes, a MT2500 or Solus with the 5.2 update is probably the best thing right now.

I have about every one that Snap-on makes but I think you will be fine with the AE software. Jay is a good guy to talk to also.

Thanks for the input.I did check out snapon and others
but like the tech 2 they are a bit pricey and hard to
justify the expense for my use.plus it'll use my $2000 laptop
for something other than reading this forum!

    Re: Read of BCM

I seem to recall an intention for HPT to be able to handle most of the functions of a Tech 2. In due time of course...

Any new Word on this I really need to get somthing for this and it would be nice to use your hardware rather than another software package and cables........... and interface..more cables etc....
all i really need at this point is a read of codes for wheel sensors and ride control etc.
i would be glad to test anything you can come up with and i am not opposed to an upgrade charge for these features

No it will not read or edit the pcm, however you can read codes on any module on the same bus as the pcm/tcm.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Is there any itent to add the functionality of being able to make changes to the BCM, etc? Let me give you an example. On a C5 Z06 the option for tire pressure sensors is shut off. Its in there, you just have to turn them on with the techII. On the auto transmission cars you can look at temperature on the DIC but not the manual. If you could access that you could set it up to look to the sensor to display the transmission temp.

Here is an example of something you can do with a flash of other modules like the ABS controller.

    http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...&postcount=130

All C5 (from 2002) & C6 brake bias/pressure are controlled via the electronic ABS control unit. The 2001 C5 Z06/Coupe brake bias are mechanical valve control. The racing ABS/Bias calibration is not a "HP Tuner/LS1 Edit" thing. Its a GM Racing "Thing".

Contact GM Racing for the C6R ABS/Bias calibration which is downloaded and installed by your dealer. This will disable the A/H and make the car VERY UNSTABLE on ice, snow or very slick conditions. This is because the bias is at 55/45 with the rears engaging a millisecond before the fronts. The street bias of 80/20 allows the car to be very stable under slick conditions. I am not sure how much of this will negate your existing warranty or GMPP.

The C5R ABS/Bias calibration is not yet available but was told it will be in the near future. My 2002 C5 Z06 was done as a street/track mule with the final version of the calibration flashed into both of my C5 Z06s last December. An added note, this ABS/Bias calibration for the C5 is set to wheel diameter to be squared on all fours (295/35R18) not the O.E.M. staggered (265/40R17 & 295/35R18) wheel diameter. You WILL NOT have stable ABS/Bias brake control on a staggered wheel diameter with this calibration.

Again, folks may not wat to open the pandora's box of allowing folks to play with the BCM/TCM/TCS, etc... but I was wondering if there were any plans to ever offer look into it...

    Thx...

almost two years ago... anything new on this?
I am planning to spend 2000 $$ to get a used tech 2 from ebay, but would rather like to spend some money to HPTuners to get the same features. And i guess i am not the only one

Be careful which tech 2 you buy. There are many clones on the market. I bought a new one, quit working in a month, sent it to Bosch/Vetronix under warranty. They said I'm screwed because it was a clone-no warranty & they won't even try to fix it.
