Completed the beginner at home program. Very expensive ($449) for basic info. Basic info in my opinion= (no VE/MAF tuning mentioned). I found more info. here and in the stickies/help section of HP Tuners honestly. The thing to consider when your are paying full retail for the book as indicated by Bob is that you are also getting the online/phone/email support for (1) year as well. I think he said thats a $249 value. Totally agree with the value of their private forum...it was valuable when the book left me feeling empty/wanting like Hp Tuners does at times. I believe they should have the book with/out support. Acutually I was expecting the intermediate book to be 1/2 price for previous customers but after a disappointing phone call looks like that a no dice. I will have to give props to Bob @ the tuning school as they are the ONLY group of folks I know of that have released a decent book regarding specifially HP Tuners. I have read several others and they seem to spend WAY TO MUCH time teaching you about physics, engine cycles, thermodynamics, ect. before they start to get to the point of tuning your vehicle with Hp Tuners. Last book I read, (70 pages in a 200 page book!) It was like reading a engineers porn novel when I was simply looking for a walk thru guide. COME ON ADVANCED GUIDE!

There is good news for Cantalope kid, we will soon be including the VE and MAF FREE with beginners orders. Actually, everyone who owns it already will get it free as well. The reason for this was because when we initially made the beginners, we decided to offer an intermediate and advanced as well; and were including VE and MAF in intermediate.

We changed our minds, and decided to include VE and MAF in beginners as well, and some other things as well that were going into intermediate.

So we will have an even better beginners guide, and a really thorough Advanced one as well. No intermediate will be offered (or needed) and this will save the students from buying 3 items, just 2.

I have included a nice list on our tuning school forum of what the Advanced will include, so surf on over there and check it out. We will be setting the final release date -sorry it has been so long in coming. Please understand it's a LOT of data to cover in the advanced, and since we decided not to do an intermediate it just made my job even bigger as I have to split that up between Beginners and advanced.

Bob It would be nice If I could get the VE and MAF supplement that you include now in the beginners course and promised to all the people that took the first beginners course. You have said that you get the supplement for free and give it to everyone that takes the course but I have been waiting for a year and haven't received mine yet. I have called several times and still have not received it yet. Your book and course are very good but your phone tech support is very poor-I can never get you on the phone. Maybe you should not offer this service if you are too busy to provide the phone service.

    Trent,

I have called you many times from my own home on my own personal time as well as during working hours. Sometimes, I am not available during the day but I have always gotten back to you.

In reguards to your supplements, the ones you are after are not even done yet. (MAF and VE) for the beginners. You are a long time customer, and I have enjoyed talking with you (a lot) over the phone and in person. If you need anything from us, please do no hesitate to call (work or my cell, which you have both).

    Thanks,
    Bob

Concerning the Intermediate=FREE option to prev. customers and included with all new beginners guides...AWESOME! Totally unexpected! That's value, thanks guys!

I will have to give it to Bob @ thetuningschool one thing they do well is follow up. I admit the immediacy I expect is just me being apprehensive sometimes but I always feel better after I get a pat on the back from Bob. He has called, email, and PM'ed me several times! I am the biggest pusher when it comes to WHEN...and folks I can promise you Bob is on the job! Trust me he is going to get this stuff out to us asap! So...

Newbies I recommend you immediately buy the begginer guide as its now going to come with all the extras you have been demanding!

For all the veterans of the tuning school learn @ home sysyem...hold your $'s from tax time...because come March xx, 2009 we are going to be buying the ADVANCED Edition...WOOHOO!

Bob, how soon will you include the "extra" info on the begginers course? I want to purchase the learn at home course soon but just wondering if I should wait until it comes with it?

It doesn't matter if you get it now or wait, the timeframe is the same. As soon as it is ready (about a month or so) current customers get the update, and going forward it will be inserted.

    Thanks,
    Bob

I take back the above statement partially about the OTHER (Current Read: Masmotorsportys) books. It finally got to the point in my opinion on p. 109 in a 223 page book. A very decent walk thru has changed my perspective at this point in regards to this specific book. I kinda like the way it explains things for you in a step by step sticky way without having to use the search/copy/paste feature to create your own mini-walk thru to use. The remainder has been theory and sensor explanations. For the $'s its probably the least inexpensive Hp Tuners useful guide available but again only a few pages of real Hp Tuners specific meat involved (far more than those OTHER Amazon sold books).

At this point I wish I had amnesia and didn't even know Bob was working on the Advanced copy yet...I'm totally stoked about its release and can't wait to hold my very own copy soon!

You could look at it this way but a step by step guide actually teaches you nothing. I have not taken Bob's course or seen any info from it but I have taken other courses and tune professionally everyday and I can tell you tuning is just that, physics.
A stepped guide might get your car tuned now but what if a problem arises? What about a cam swap or blown application? You'll find an understanding of how the system works will work much better in the long run.
    -John

I prefer the engineers porn novel type books

We provide both, a workbook and CD, as well as laminated checksheets too, and a year of support via phone, email or our private forum. To help Lowe understand more, our learn at home course is designed to provide steps to tuning various combinations (bolt on, heads/cam, and forced induction and Nitrous) as well as provide a great basis for understanding why and how things are done. We teach you "how" to fish, not just "give" you a fish.

    Thanks!

Yeah, I took the course last month in Florida. I really enjoyed it, but wish the VE and MAF tunning stuff was already in the beginners course. I can't wait to recieve the new stuff that you guys are putting togther over there. Look forward to receiving it. I will be attending the Advance course also, as soon as I get a little more practice. I am definitely fishing on my own now and can eat for years and not a day! Thanks!
