    Help with Timing.

I've been tweeking my baby with VCM and logging all morning. I actually got it to work with WinME! My LTFT's were maxed at 25 when I first started. It took me three tries to get them negative, once I got the math right. I've disabled COT and TM, and my TCC locks up only in 4th @ 45mph. The idle needs some more tweeking but it's problably idle timing. Heres my mods

    2001 T/A WS6
    BGRA
    SLP Lid & Bellows
    GMAF (mistake 1)
    80mm BBK TB (mistake 2)
    02 LS6 Cam
    1.7 YT's
    BBK Shorty Headers
Random Tech Cats & Y Pipe
    Corsa Catback

Which tables under Spark Advance do I adjust to get 26 -28 degrees of timing at WOT? I've scanned and logged my last run and I get 19.5 degrees of timing at 50% throttle and beyond. This was after a 50 minute run! I'm sure I can raise this gradually but unsure of which table.

This is great tool Keith (Magnus)! I really like the playback on the logging feature, it's almost like the black boxes on the jets I used to download info off when I was in the Navy.

    Re: Help with Timing.

Haven't looked at my VCMsuite software yet as it just arrived today and im at work but just some info regarding timing. I dunno if this goes for VCM suite as well but with my timing tuner if you add timing at cruise, this is added to any timing at WOT so...If you add 3 degrees at cruise and 3 at WOT you've now added 6 degrees total at WOT. Somebody tell us if this is the case with VCMsuite? I've never used edit either so im in the dark here....

    Re: Help with Timing.

I wouldn't mess timing around until you have gotten
that GMAF under control - going by the settled-in
LTFTs. Until these get to be consistently zero at WOT
    things are going to drift.

It might help if you could snag a MAF table from
someone who has tuned a GMAF in properly. If GMS
were stand-up guys they would give you the flow/
freq data being as you bought the MAF they made.
But I don't know about that. Anyhoo, maybe some Edit
dude has one good-to-go that you can check out, see
if you have come up with a sane MAF curve on your own.

If so, lemme know... I collect 'em. But GMAF I don't have.

But I think you have several days before fuel trims will
be stable especially in the less-frequently, less-duration
used fuel cells. This might be a good night just to drive
    around, logging.

    Re: Help with Timing.

    Thanks JimmyBlue,

I going out to do some logging right now. I played with the High Octane curve a very little. I want to see what it does. I used the MAF Table from LS1Howto.com, I used the screened table. This gave me a decent curve to work with. I 've been running lean for a long time, but I just scaled the table until it was good. While cruising I was at -2.5 Ltrim, idle was -4.6, both solid. The car runs so much better now, I'm sure there is plenty more left in her!

Torch...can you detail how you deleted TM? I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I changed the max torque in the spark retard table to 639...anything else?

    Thanks!

    Re: Help with Timing.

Yes there are a few things to do. Engine section under Spark Retard you have the Abuse Mode and Max Engine Torque settings and 639 is the correct value. You can 0 out the Abuse Mode Timer and the TCS stuff. I don't have TCS so no big deal.
In the Transmission section under the A4 Shift properties tab 0 out all the Torque Reduction tables and the Brake Shift table. Under A4 TCC Apply release tables
    as follows:
    Apply 256 from 0 - 100 % TPS 2nd gear
    Apply 256 from 0 - 100 % TPS 3rd gear
    Apply 45 from 0 - 75 % TPS 4th gear

    Release 255 from 0 - 100 % TPS 2nd gear
    Release 255 from 0 - 100 % TPS 3rd gear
    Release 35 - 39 from 0 - 75 % TPS 4th gear

    Makes a big difference.

I'm only new at this so hopefully this isnt a dumb question but, what values did you use for apply & release for 4th over 75% ???
