Dakota Digital, AEM wideband, data logging

I recently swapped and L86/8L90 into a 84 C10. The motor and tranny are running and I'm trying to finish up wiring my Dakota Digital gauges. I purchased their AFR BIM module (13-2) dakotadigital.com/pdf/BIM-13-2.pdf and purchased an AEM inline wideband 30-0310 30-0310 X-Series UEGO Inline (menlosecurity.com). The DD BIM uses a 0-5 serial input and I have that wired and working correctly. My question is how can I data-log using the MPVI3 with ProLink while still having my gauges connected? Can I piggyback off of the 5V input into the DD module (white wire)? Or can I use the AEMnet to connect to the ProLink? Thanks in advance!

I've never been able to log with the gauges plugged in. They always interfere with the scanner being able to log correctly. I just use my cell with a gps app to get a rough speedo reading while I'm logging.

Hey GH, thanks for the quick reply and you are absolutely correct about the gauges interfering with the scanner, its no bueno! I really did a poor job asking my question in effort to provide all the pertinent info, LOL. What I'm trying to figure out is this, Can I hardwire the AEM +5v serial output to my DD 13-2 AFR BIM, and at the same time wire the AEM CANBUS signal wires to the HPT ProLink, unplug my DD gauges from the OBDII port, plug in my MPVI3. Will I get a correct AFR signal on my scanner? A lot of words for a simple question LOL. Rob

If you have the obd2 Aem then unplug the d d and plug the other 2 in like normal. If you don't then use the pro link like you're talking about.

The 0-5v output and CAN interfaces are fully independent, on the AEM widebands. So, you can rout CAN to 1 device, and 0-5v to another. Just don't forget the brown wire

Thanks GH, I plan on using the CanBus signal on the ProLink.

Do I even need to use the brown wire DR.MIKE? I plan on using the AEM CANBUS signal for the ProLink and the Dakota Digital module only requires a one wire 0-5V+ input (directions are in the link above). Am I missing something?

Also which "output type" should I use for the BIM setting? Thanks for the help!

Brown wire is the ground wire for the 0-5 volt ANALOG output. It is not a "data" line AEM or CANbus. AEM and CAN are two separate forms of communication and should not be mixed. HP Tuners can use the AEMnet or the CAN if you have a Part # 30-0334 and of course the analog 0-5 volt output that can be used on Pro Link or on the EGR wiring if the ECM/PCM has that as an option/OS

I have the AEM 30-0310. I'm using the AEMnet wires to connect to the CANbus on the ProLink. I'm using the the white wire out of the AEM sensor harness to provide the input into the DD AFR module. Sorry if I wasn't clear before.

dr.mike you were correct! I had to connect the white AND brown wire to the Dakota Digital BIM box in order for the AFR to display on my DD RTX gauges correctly, THANKS! Now I am trying to log/display AFR on my scanner using the MPVI3 with the ProLink. I have connected the AEMNet CAN high wire (black/white) to the ProLink CAN high wire (orange) and the AEMnet CAN low wire (green/white) to the ProLink CAN low wire (yellow). I repolled the scanner, added the AEM X series UEGO WB EQ ratio 1 PID. However, when I start scanning, nothing populates in the PID. Thoughts? TIA.

I'm not sure if this matters, but my swap is a GEN V E92/T87 using a Speartech wiring harness.

TheMechanic - I have a 30-0310 and is say it has outputs for the AEMnet which I have connected to my Prolink/MPVI3. However, I'm not getting anything on the scanner. Any thoughts as to why it's not working? As stated before, I swapped a 2017 L86/8L90 into an 84 C10 using a Speartech wiring harness, E92/T87 using a 2015 Corvette OS.
