Hello, I'm trying to read a 2018 Ford Ranger 2.2 Diesel engine, but the VCM Editor informs the following message before reading: "Your controller requires a software update in order to enable tuning. Would you like to generate the update file? This is a non-volatile process and no data will be written to your vehicle until you write the patch back with VCM Editor."
My question: is it a simple and safe process to perform this update? Thank you all
Pretty simple and we've made it as safe as possible. While there is always a risk when you are flashing an ecm the odds of an issue are slim to none.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

I had this notification pop up however I was unable to update the controller at that time. Is there a way to trigger that to come back up?
