anyone have experience with this camshaft?

Tuning an 04 GTO on Monday with a new cam. Its from Thunder Racing and is called the "TR224"
The customer was told this cam alone will make 50 hp more than the stock unit, and that's what he's expecting. nice...
Anyhoo, its relatively small at 112 lobe center, 563 lift and 224 @.050. Just wondering if anyone has tuned one. Thanks

I have in the LQ9 6.0 in a truck. What in particular are you asking about?

should be easy enough based on the size. medium sized. probably get you 30 at the wheels with a tune.

Just preparing myself to explain why it doesnt add 50 rwhp like the salesman told him. I can see 20-25. Was the idle an issue? Thanks

Never going to see 50hp at the wheels with that cam in a GTO. As said above, maybe 30 if your tune is perfect. Idle should be pretty easy to dial in.

I have this cam, and will upload one of my early tunes for you when I get home. A local guy did this before I started tuning...named Gomer. I made over 350 at the wheels thru stock airbox and with a restrictive exhaust.

Idle tuning for that cam was a breeze.

Thanks. It has this HUGE Comp Cam in it now, and a Diablosport Predator. Even with a horrible idle, it makes 328 on my Dyno Dynamics dyno. I would love to get 350-360 from this thing. It has a full JBA exhaust on it with a AEM cold air kit. I appreciate the feedback.

    Tr 224 Gto

Here is the tune, hope it helps. My car/mods at time of tune:
    2004 GTO (LS1)
    LS6 heads
    TR224 114+4
    mildly ported TB
very restrictive 2 1/4" exhaust, Pacesetter LT's, catless mids, stock airbox

I made 352/344 at the wheels in about 60 degree weather in April 2008.

alot of salesmen claim 50-60hp from a cam... I try explain to customers they sell their products rated at crank hp... which most of the time is true!
