I have a 2005 V6 STS and my friend has a 2006 CTS with the same engine and trans. His car gets better mileage and has a lot more power.
Can I download his program and upload it to my STS and expect the same results as he gets. I have the HP Tuners tool.
With doing so you take the risk of frying your pcm.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

You might just compare the two and make a few changes at a time and see how it affects your car. If you change everything at once and multiple things don't work right, you will have a mess of a problem to try and figure out. You might start off just trying his timing tables.
As for MPG, what is the weight difference between your two cars? Is your significantly heavier? The engine may be producing just as much power, but having to lug around a heavier car, thus feeling slower and getting lower MPG.
