Is this the two tables to change the knock sensor sensitive?
This is on a Pontiac G8GT with the L76 6.0L. I have knock when in DOD (V4). And I have a little in knock in V8 also.
Thanks

I think we are on our own.
I am going to run a tank of 93 octane to see if it is real knock (if it goes away, it is real knock). Then I plan on reducing the spark advance in the DOD spark tables. If it is real knock, that should get rid of it.
Another thing I want to try is to change the DOD parameters. I would actually like it to stay on a little longer. It jumps in and out so much and I don't know why. There should be plenty of HP there in V4 mode to sustain 70 mph on level ground yet it insists on going in and out.
I will need gas before the weekend so that is when I plan on playing with this. I will post my results.
As for changing the sensitivity, I am not sure. On my 2001 V6 Firebird (100 shot of Nitrous) I actually changed the sensitivity using some resistors in the knock sensor circuit. It should be much easier now but be carfull.

Ya, i think there are only 3 of us here that have the G8.....i'm thinking of selling my tuner kit....don't get me wrong, the guys here are very helpfull and have answeared all my messages...but i was expecting a bunch of tune files to download and try out....
Doesn't matter how many people have it, a tune is a tune. Yes, those are the tables for the knock sensors. Same as the LS2/3.
Zim, if that is what you expected, then you were expecting something that has never been. Tuning software is there for YOU, YOURSELF, to be able to tune the car. Some people are nice enough to post up some tunes and what not, but you should NEVER just "try them out".

I suppose...I'll keep at it...
Here is an interesting development. I turned off DOD and the Knock retard was identical.
One thing I noticed was that my G8 seems to call for a lot of spark advance in the cuise cells. I am pulling spark advance in the low to mid (and some times upper) 40's. I compared a scan from my 2003 C5 and its LS1 was calling for 6* less in the same cells. This is with the G8 having a knock learn factor at .4. If the knock learn factor was zero, it would be calling for 8*-10* more advance.
Check out this scan. It is with DOD disabled.

I guess I make 4.Ya, i think there are only 3 of us here that have the G8
But as pointed out..don't "try out" some tune you downloaded..know what you are changing and why. Its not magic...understand what does what otherwise just get a canned tune and be done with it.

Pull timing out, adjust the knock sensor tables (hell put some 100 octane in it too) until you see the knock stop (but be sure your fueling is not going lean either and there are no mechanical issues causing it). Then go back with your timing. This is the best way I have found to get the knock sensors changed, but leaving them sensitive enough to pick up real knock. This will still catch some false knock though doing it this way.
If you multiply those tables listed by 1.5, that should cover you but still may put up a bit of false knock.

I am going to fill up with 93 octane tommorrow and see what that does. I think I will leave the DOD off while I figure this out. Then match to DOD tables to the standard tables the re-activate.

I'm another G8 owner. I'm running a "Frankentune" I had a tuner do the engine for 93 and I did the transmission. I'm happy with it.

I ran a tank of 93 Octane and the knock went away. This indicates it is real knock. I would not reduce sensitivity to try and fix this problem. I am going to wait until I finish the tank of 93, put 87 back in, then reduce spark in the areas I am getting knock. This should solve the problem.
I will then go back to 93 to work on my 93 Octane tune which I will use when I go to the track. I plan on running 87 for my daily commutes. Hope this helps.

I see a little KR (2-3*) in the 3200-3800 rpm range...Not sure if AFM was on or not. Absolutely 0 KR WOT. 93 Octane.
All good iinfo...thanks!
So i just want to make sure i get this right. increasing the 2 main knock level sensitivity tables will decrease the knock sensitivity?
lol cause i was playing around with them and multiplied the 2 tables by .8 and was still getting knock.....lol i think i made them more sensitive by doing that so i put it back.
Yes, reducing it makes it more sensitive.
