    Timing

Is there a way to tell what system is retarding engine timing? When going full throttle, the timing drop to 17 degrees retarded then slowly recovers.

    Yup.

You can log knock retard, burst knock and both the IAT and ECT advance, those can add or remove timing based on intake air temps and coolant temps.

Knock retard would likely be real knock picked up and burst knock is a predicted knock that can reduce timing during throttle transition. Like when stabbing the throttle and there is a large airflow/torque change.

Also torque mgnt could reduce timing to keep traction there.

Thanks for the reply. I'll add these PIDs to my list. I think it might be a traction control issue. The traction control torque percentages drop when the timing is pulled. If you have the time, check out the log.

    Thanks

Yeah, you weren't logging anything can show where the timing is going. Once the stuff is added you'll likely find a good reason as why it's going on.

I did a re-log with more PID's. Nothing stands out except for burst knock at the initial hit of the throttle, which I assume is normal? I'm still not sure what traction control torque and traction control desired torque means. The PCM could be thinking that the wheels are spinning (which they are not) and retard the timing. I looked at HP Tuners website and could not get an exact definition. I attached the log if anyone is interested.

Traction control engaged (on), Stabilatrac came on 9-5-17.hpl

    Thanks

Doesn't look like your knock retard is being logged, it is always reading zero.

Does anyone have an explanation of what traction control torque and traction control desired torque means?

You do not have enough PIDs you may want to try these.
