With the 6speeds it depends on the year models - I've done it both ways, but on the earlier ones even if you disable TM, your not actually disabling it 100% - in fact only about 70% or 80%... 14 and newer ones pretty much completely kills TM and goes into a default trans pressure setting setup - which I've even with certain customers dialed in for regular driving after killing TM per request (very time consuming this way, but can be made to work either way you choose)

What your looking for on the torque is something around 900 to 1000 ftlbs around 4500 to 5000 rpms... You might actually want to open the torque editor and modify the model by hand - just use the spark setting near what your wot timing is... Make sure to scale your airmass setting up to a max 2000 setting (this is an actual airmass of 200 on your spark tables)

I just glanced at your trans tune - I would just put the most of it back to stock - all of your shift times are zeroed out, shift inertias and everything modified? Go back to stock and see what the torque model does for you...

doing so right now, but I still need to set the trans up to deal with the 3600 stall. I will rewrite the tune and post.

  4. #24
my issue is the trans has a different tcm in it and wont let me flash my factory tune in it. I had to scan it and tune it that way, I believe this trans came out of a truck.

You should be able to compare - view comparison log while looking at a factory tune in the compare file and copy everything over to it..

This will help you with the stall settings -----

Don't think the export or import functions work anymore, but you should be able to copy and paste

okay I have the blue cat software had it for a while. the only question I have is do I input the same shift patterns as normal under hot, maybe a silly question but just want to verify

Just modify them in the same way, that way it's still different for the hot tables - hopefully it'll never have to use them...

Okay here is the updated trans tune. I matched every item from the original factory tune and even had to change some rows and columns to make sure they matched, I then used bluecat for the 3600 stall. I cant log it tonight as it is raining and do not want to attempt wide open pulls on drag radials. let me know what you thing and I will post a log when it dries up

    factory setting with 3600 stall.hpt

Looks a whole lot better - do you have your original stock tranny tune to post? Looked like some of the torque settings might still be adjusted a little bit, but not far from stock...

here is the factory tune from the original trans (different TCM)

    FACTORY TUNE.hpt

Okay. After logging max torque was 885. I am on gas right now so I am down about 85 hp. I think I changed the tap up and down in the tune because the paddle shifters won't work but I believe the tune to be pretty much spot on

here is the last log, I hope we are good

Only issue I have is I can't use the paddle shifters. Looking at everything in the tune and can't figure it out

Have they ever worked on this transmission? Glanced at the tune - didn't see anything jumping out...

The new trans is a mad dog new trans/rebuild. The factory trans was rebuild twice. But decided not to build it again. I believe the car had a hand held can tune when I bought the car. Because when I compare it to other stock 2011 tunes it Had a slight difference in the pressures

The 6L90 relays HEAVILY on proper torque cals from the engine side, the trans will never operate properly if that ecm side isnt' correctly tuned. I specialize in tuning these transmission and i have customers from every range of 400-1200whp on built, stock, and everything in between. I love the 80s/90s when they are done properly they are hard to beat in street cars.

Normally - TM is needed to keep these transmissions alive. So taking it completely away is dumb.

That's what greg has been trying to help me with. I tried the learning school method and he had me go back to almost stock. I am trying to make sure the virtual torque is close so I am not putting too much or not enough pressure on the trans. As far as toque management I believe I have turned that back on. If you see other wise please let me know. I can't trust any tuners around me so am trying to learn this myself. I have access to a dyno anytime I want but their tuner only does imports. The last tuner. Didn't fix anything and just kept shutting codes off.

in the trans tune, go to auto shift properties -- general.

look at all the the tutd settings compared to an original camaro tune. also check trans diagnostics general tab for tutd & check the dtc's P815,816,826,1762,1876,1877

If it's all set to the same it should work again

Half shift times, never Zero Them.
Add 30% to base pressure tables
Add 10% to oncoming pressure tables.
Leaving TM at 1.000 on stock 80s/90s
Follow stock logic for TM and TM settings.
Set line pressure to something like 290/300 This is a good "basic" logic to follow you can tweak from there.

I've been very blessed to own V's and test R/D on. I've also spent late nights PM people like TRe-Cool , steve williams, aka waker, from 6l80etuning.com and having others share knowledge, from there i've tested my own logic and theories and created what i thought was good.

I'm over 750whp on blower only, i daily drive my V. and i still have a lid Kit to spray.. my trans used to be stock, i built it back in march. daily drive 50+ miles a day on a built LSX376 and yes, i built my own trans.. when i say i understand these trans its because i've been in them and understand.
