Does reflashing ECU reset timing tables or is it still "learned" E78

Does reflashing the ECU via HPT reset spark timing tables or is it still retaining retarded spark from that last tank of low octane fuel [2013 Cruze 1.4 E78 ECU]

My current understanding is when you refill the tank it will revert to high octane and retard out of it; but what if you're flashing in-between tanks...

it should trigger a reset when flashing. If you go under the scanners manual control functions you should be able to trigger an ecu trim reset which would reset the ecu to the higher spark table. if the feature isn't available to you then it is automatic upon either a code clearing or flash update. LNF and LHU are like that.
if you are just driving it around on a finished file and it flops to low ignition map then it will stay there until the trims are manually reset or the ecu sees the fuel tank was filled up.
