    Analog

Well, analog it is. Thx guys for the support. I installed the gauge a few mths back. Fighting with it since. Need to get this tune done. Built an engine up last summer and been running it with the ol hypertech. But that's not ganna help with all the mods and changes. I'll wire that up this week and see if I can get her going. Thx again

She's all together and operational. Moved the CAN wire pin positions to the analog output in the back of the gauge. Cut and soldered those to the interface wires. Reading on HPT, and faster then I thought it would. Thx again fellas.
Now I can get my pos 5.3 build working right

So am I reading that Hptuners dropped support of this working in Gen 3 non CAN cars? If not what do I need to do to use it on non Can cars?

They never supported it on non CAN vehicles

Basically need to add two pins to the connector on the gauge to give it a 0-5V out. They're like $0.05 at digikey. Details are in the manual for the 30-0333 model

You HAVE to use both wires, not just the + side. The ground is dedicated just to this circuit; using the ground everything else in the car is using doesn't work

Also, the analog out is much faster than the serial out on these and I literally had to go to like 3 decimal places to find any differences between that and the reading over the CAN bus. It was amazingly fast and accurate for me.

I don't have the 30-0333 yet and what I have picked up is the lamda format is only talked about but ,is their a way to get Air fuel ratio format to read on the scanner or is the lamda format the only way?

You can make it display "afr" based on a few different stoich values

I wonder if this can be made to work with a non CAN bus pcm.

I tested it on my C5 corvette and with a terminating resistor jumped between the can pins on the factory obd2 plug I am able to get hptuners to read the can bus output on the wideband, but it will not read any pcm signals. If I unplug the resistor it reads the pcm, but not the wideband. Why can't it read both when the resistor is installed?

It seems that this can easily be fixed with programming.

probably because the resistor is shorting out the non-CAN PWM signal? I assume it's PWM, whatever it is. What you could do is change the value of the resistor maybe you will find one that works with both.

If I remember correctly HPT only tries to use one or the other protocol, not both, since that isn't something that would "normally" happen

I don't remember the specifics but I do recall it being brought up when the AEM CAN bus WB's were first released and there was not an ETA for getting them working on non-CAN bus vehicles for this very reason

Not quite. It's a matter of the interface only expecting to see one type of protocol. If it gets a valid response to a CAN request, it doesn't bother trying to search for an J1850 PWM/VPW protocol.

CAN seems to come 1st in the search order. The 30-0333 produces a valid CAN response. So, it stops there. And, all you will see is the wideband.

I'm kinda hoping this can be fixed soon, myself. I have a couple of new blower pulleys for my '02 2500HD 6.0L ( J1850 VPW ) and I have the standard interface

That is exactly what appears to happen. Seems like some simple programming changes. Please make this change for us Hptuners!

+ 1 on that. Switching back to analog on my swap for now, and moving the CAN gauge to another vehicle, but this would sure simplify things.

Should work great. Ensure that you change the address and PID for ONE of the widebands. Otherwise you have two devices trying to use the same address and PID which won't work correctly. The directions on how to do that are included in the instructions from AEM.

Looks like they're working well to me. Are you having trouble adding them to charts/graphs or anything like that? Make sure you do NOT use the generic sensor option when prompted for this one..

Would love to add them to the virtual gauges.

It's too hard to see when its at the bottom in lines.

If you know how, and have time, get me the step by step how to for dummies.
