2012 GMC Sierra cannot locate VCM interface shows power while connected to truck??

I tried to scan a VCM on a 2012 2500 Denali this afternoon and my scanner kept saying unable to locate VCM, interface shows power with it disconnected from the laptop, restarted the laptop still no VCM.
walked over to my 99 model chevy truck scanner connected and everything just fine.

has anyone had a issue like this or do I have a connection issue at the ODB2 port on the truck?

    Thanks

Did you ever get it to work? I have had that issue before, on and off, on my car.. not sure what the deal is. Sometimes I could read/write/scan first try several times in a row without any issues. Sometimes I'd have to hit write 20+ times, unplug everything, reset everything, etc. until it finally worked. No clue why.

Are you running the latest 2.24 version or an older one? The newest one includes a firmware update has given some people some weird problems
