    big cam tuning

I have a pretty big cam in my 99 SC3800, and I think that is what is causing our start up problems. We are having problems with starting the car. I believe we are on the right track for the cold start-up, we just about got that right. But after driving it awhile, when the car is at operating temps, you have to give it gas to start it up, and hold the gas alittle bit for it to stay running, just in park, it seems fine in gear. Where do we make these changes. Is it here (Initial vs. Startup ECT) where we make the changes. Change the P/N settings. Thanks for any help.

I was told by the machine shop who built my engine, that comp cams didn't want the specs told. Don't know why. But it is very close to the XPZ cam.

See the attached picture. This is for my 06 Z06, but I imagine your car probably has something similar.

It's not terribly unusual. ECS doesn't release the specs of their blower cams either.

Off-topic, but I never understood why they won't release it when the cam can easily be put on a bench tester to have the specs pulled from it. I guess some people are overly protective of their products. The QM600 isn't publicly released, but you at least get a data sheet that shows the final specs of the grind.

I am sorry, I don't know much about cams and the specs (still learing), but I would never buy a cam with out knowing the specs. That is me and others are different

The ,Idle startup airflow vs ert vs ect, should I adjust all spots, or only go down to like 248 degrees and then go all the way over. Do I take away, or add to this. When I start it up cold, it will run, but it surges alittle. But when warm, it surges then dies, and I have to hold the gas alittle to start it up and keep it running, but as soon as I put it in gear it is fine.On the cam specs, I do have them, but for some reason, I was told not tell anyone. I guess I don't know what the big secret is, if you guys want to know I will post them. Thanks for the help so far guys.

Please post your tune. I'll tweak the values in your startup airflow, and you can try them out.

I struggled with installing the ECS blower cam without knowing the specs. I even tried degree'ing it when I put it in but I didn't read up on exactly how to do it and didn't realize the duration is measured .050" from max lift, not .050" from the base circle so all my numbers are garbage (save the lift). Normally I wouldn't think of buying a cam without specs but the ECS blower cam is very highly regarded. I'm still fighting some problems with my install so I haven't gotten to open it up yet but the drivability is great which is what I was after.

I guess some shops figure that 95% of people are just going to install the cam straight up and the other 5% aren't going to release the specs, although they could copy the cam. Theoretically the Thunder Racing blower cam and ECS blower cam could be the same but the ECS cam is mysterious and thus cooler.

Some of the V6's have this table?? Not in mine????

Sorry, found the difference between the two. Your V6 has a different OS set-up, very similar to the V8's...
