E38 2bar MAP with Stock OS

    Hi All,
I am running a boosted E38 with a MAF tune on the standard OS. I want to monitor boost with a 2 bar MAP sensor, and see this can be calibrated with the stock OS.
Has anyone tried this - would it have any bad effects? Currently the 1 bar sensor is just maxing out anyway so I would imagine it's possible.

I think you can simply set the MAP Settings in the Engine Diagnostics to:
    MAP Linear = 200
    MAP Offset = 10.33

Thanks I will try that - just hope it won't cause the map transients to do anything strange!

I did this on at least two C6's that I was tuning with APS TT setups. No issues. However, when I was done tuning I put the 1 bar back in.

Would there be any negatives to leaving it in?

You lose resolution. You have to fit 2 bar of pressure into 1 bar of table.

Are you going to run a 2 bar? I noticed you're gonna put in an ECS blower. I'm procharging my car soon (w/an ECS blower cam and alky kit too). Trying to learn as much as possible before then so I'm not a total tuning amature.

I just bought the 2 bar sensor off another forum member. I'm pretty sure I'm going to either run the 2 bar sensor on the stock OS or upgrade to the E40 (for '05 vettes among others) 2 bar SD.

Oh ok, I didn't realize the E40 had 2 bar SD. No such animal for the E38 yet.

No, but I thought they were beta'ing a version for the E38/E67's that extends the MAF way past the 512 g/sec / 12k Hz limit.

Ah, ok. I saw that thread when I first got HP tuners and had no idea what it meant. Now it makes sense!

Thanks guys - I tried it and it worked fine. Wasn't too concerned about the VE stuff as on the e38 standard OS there are no real tables - just many coefficients which hopefully I will never have to try and figure out!

Bluecat has a program to deal with them. And you can set up the boundaries for your 2 bar application.

Can you just hook up a 2 bar on E38? i thought I read that it would not work and would cause a lean condition or something?
