    Drive cycle in scanner

Has anyone used the "Drive Cycle" in the Layout section? Any shortcuts or if it is useful? Seems to have many different separate monitor tests. I have, at least for a few years been using Mode 6 to check for sensor, cat function to get an idea how "Used up" something is based on how close to thresholds it is. Just want to see if this is another good tool in the toolbox for monitor setting etc.

I know it has been a while but has anyone had any success in getting this to work? The Help section is vague to say the least.

    What issue are you having?

It's a pretty commonly used tool for validating emissions testing.

How to actually find the drive cycle in the scanner. Don't see it in any of the drop downs. The picture I put in post 2 was one I pulled off the internet.
Is it a chart? Graph? Gauge?
Is it a specific downloadable layout? Is it one of the default layouts? For the life of me I just can't seem to find it.

Ah looks like 4.13 or later. Any chance the layout if uploaded could be used on earlier versions?

You can install the beta and have Windows use the legacy editor as default and the beta scanner as default.

I will do that. I think I should have a later version of 4 somewhere. Just hesitant to go 5 as I don't want the firmware update.

Does it require a firmware update for the latest beta if you're only scanning with the beta but editing/flashing with the old release version?

Used Beta software. Didn't do a firmware update so my 4.8 software is good to go.

Are you saying there's a firmware update for the dongle that prevents using older software?
I've never seen such an update but I will keep an eye out. I would be super annoyed if unable to use my v4.10

From what I understand the firmware update takes place in versions 5.x The Beta does work great and no firmware and still allows me to use my 4.8 version software that has "things" I want to be able to do.

I've used 5x and never noticed anything happen, but I didn't install it, I extracted it. So if the update was hiding in the installer then I guess it didn't get me.
I did notice a beta I tried last week or so said it needed some Microsoft update, Desktop something? Seems to work fine without it.

I like 4.10 much better than 5.0.4, or the beta. Plus no smog bs to deal with. Excluding the smog issue, the thing I hate the most about 5x is the 2D charts. Not only ugly, but if you click anywhere on it it'll grab the nearest point and pull it to that level. Since I use a touch pad it happens often by accident. So I have to look over any window before closing to be sure I didn't jack it up, and carefully mouse around the map to close it. I suppose if the accidental change was small I might not notice. Super annoying and it shouldn't be like that.

Another issue is I was having random weird power losses with a tune, where I'd make some change(s) and lose a ton or power for no reason. Then I'd go in and try to figure out wth, without luck, because once it does that the tune is like that forever. I discovered it because one day I only made one petty change that has nothing to do with power, and poof, my power is gone! So I started to did since I make notes of each tune for such an occasion, and discovered all the times it had done that was when I used v5.0.4 >:|
It doesn't always do it, but the odds are not good.
Last week I was looking to see if there was anything new in beta, because that's what I get it for, and discovered some maps that have different values in them than v5.0.4 or older. So of course I wonder if the beta is a fix for always been wrong maps, or is it wrong now? It's all rather frustrating...

Are you now, or have you ever been, a Fiero owner?
