DBW changes

Im starting to get curious about the DBW setups. Im going to take my Cable driven out soon and swap to DBW have everything but the throttle body.

My question is , what can be changed to make throttle response faster. Im assuming Desired Pedal Area tables, but whats the difference between Normal and Alternate. Also - what "fries" the pcms ? Can these tables be touched at all ?

Ive seen mulpitle different settings for the same year of truck . I also noticed in the last 6.0 ( 2003 ) truck I did the numbers were very very low and you sure feel it while your driving
