Tuning a Denali 1500XL with 6.2 / 6L80 & MAST 216/230 LSA 116 - what are the expected results street tuning ? this thing is AWD and having hard time locating a AWD dyno . I have a long stretch of highway with slight constant grade - have the manual column shift feature where I can hold truck in gear . Any thoughts would be appreciated - thanks REM
you don't need a dyno, just a good wideband.
I do all of my MAF tuning on the street. Just make sure you get enough drive time in to get a good data sample. I usually log for 10-15 minutes before making changes. I try to stay out of PE, and disable DFCO, CFCO, and LTFT's while logging.
You dont need a wideband or a dyno. Just make a tune file setting pe to 1.0, disable transient, disable dfco. drop timing 5 degrees. flash the file and log in forced closed loop and forced fuel trim learn. log ltft hi and low, hit all freqs slowly. From the logged maf high and los trims, modify maf tables. reflash, repeat a few times to get as close to zero ltft and put the new curves in your finished regular driving tune.
I am attaching a spreadsheet that makes it easy, just copy in the initial maf values from the tune, log trims, paste the logged trims in and copy the spreadsheet calculated maf values back into the tune.
No need to set PE to command stoich... I see people mention that and is not true at all... out what you intend to target and match commanded vs actual!
Ben, you are correct IF and only IF you have a wideband O2. Most cars I street tune do not have wideband sensors. That's why I use LTFT.
I tune about 10 cars a week.... I put the car open loop and install my WB in the exhaust (takes me 10-15 min)
