07 grand prix remote start issue

the car is an 07 gp base model. i am running a 2005 pcm currently. my remote start works 2-3x, and then on the 3rd or 4th try, it will flash my lower park lamps and make a click like it wants to start, but will not. when i flash the pcm, it will again work 2-3x, and then it fails on the 4th. i have tried to change the VIN on the pcm, but it says that my vin is invalid. is there any way for me to get my remote start working properly? i can live without it, but if there is a way to get it back, i would really like to have it...

are you starting the car manually between attempts,, you can only do 2 back to back remote starts then you need to start the car with the key, then you get another 2 remote starts

also certain bcm dtc's and all ecm dtc's will disable the remote start function, do you have a scan tool that can read bcm codes, the bcm also stores the last reason the remote start was disabled

no, i was not. i was unaware of that. no, i do not have a scan tool that reads bcm codes. thank you for that information. that may be what my problem was...i'll test it out

this is not the issue...i tried that, and it still wont work...is there another way to do this? i have been advised by others to try changing the vin, and i come up with an error every time and it will not allow me to change the 05 pcm to the 07's vin...

Why are you not running an 07 pcm?

You're from Florida, what do you need remote start for. :)

releank the vats. i had the same prob. i relinked it. cycled the key twice for 30 seconds and it worked. if it says fail to start with the key, leave the key in for 15 min. trust me.

i tried to relink the vats, but what do you mean cycle the key for 30 seconds?

haha, i know, but i'm only here for an internship. i plan on moving back to the midwest eventually. also, if my car has a feature, i would like it to work ;)...lol

Procedure
To relink the VCM with the BCM please use the following steps:

Plug the interface cable into the vehicle OBD2 port and PC serial/USB interface. See Connecting to the Vehicle section for more information.
Open VCM Editor and select "Relink VATS" from the "Flash" menu. The Relink VATS form will appear.
Put the key in the ignition and turn to the ON position (do not start the vehicle).
Wait 10 to 15 seconds.
Press the Commit button when ready.
Wait for the procedure to complete.
Turn Ignition off for 30 seconds.
Turn Ignition on for 30 seconds.
Turn Ignition off for 30 seconds.
Turn Ignition on for 30 seconds.
The vehicle has now relinked the VCM to the BCM.

Let me know what happens.

i do it all the time i have an 05 Grand prix GT and i have to do it everytime i write or the remote start wont work

^ this did not work. anyone have any other suggestions? i am wondering if i were to buy a bcm from an 05 and get the associated vin with it, flash that vin to my pcm, would that work?

have you ever fixed the issue? I am also having the same problem. I have a 2007. I tried flashing to 04, 05. Relinked Vats multiple times.. nothing..

So to bring up a dead thread before I connect my hptuners and possibly waste my credits, can this thing disable the security system on my 2005 Grand Prix gtp? Will I have problems with remote start like the guys above?I don't want to lose that. I need to retard the timing because I just completed a top swap on a replacement n/a engine for my 05 gtp. Couldn't find a used l32 at a decent price.
