09 Cummins w/68rfe is it tuneable?

Hello everyone, I've had hptuners for years now and tuned several LS based platforms and some of the gm v6 stuff but never tried a diesel. I just bought a '09 Ram 2500 with the 6.7 Cummins and a 68rfe trans. It's been deleted and tuned at some point by someone I can't find using an unknown tuner. So I don't want to even read the tune for fear of bricking my ecu. I'm okay with the power level... not really but it's okay for now, but I'd really like to make it shift better.

Can I tune just the trans with Hptuners or will this possibly cause ecu issues as well? Thanks in advance for any help/info.

It will be able to be tuned, not a problem. It has a separate TCM from the ECM, so just be sure to hit gather info button to exclude the ECM from the read.

years ago now, but good times just the same : )

Only works on the 2007.5-2009 Cummins where the transmission has its own controller, outside of those years the engine and transmission controllers are together as one and in the same calibration file, excluding when it comes to the Aisin transmission, that has its own controller like the early 68rfe did.

That was a fun learning experience... Thankfully the customer wasn't standing there waiting on the truck the first time I did it.

Fortunately I've got a 2009. I've been playing with it and it's definitely getting better but I don't have much time so it's slow going.
