09 cobalt ss/tc using stock boost control on external gate

anyone have any experience with this. I've been playing with the airload tables and am slowly getting it where I like it. Just need to keep the wastegate closed at lower rpms, any tips?

Run an 8psi spring in the gate.
Set the airmass as per stock. At least the shape anyway. you can make small overall boost level changes here but make sure that the shape remains the same or you'll have overboost issues/wildly changing boost.

Then use max air torque and cater it to your turbo's charicteristics.
No boost below 4K? better make your Max air torque reflect that or you'll get an underboost code.
Slight overboost at high rpm? trim it with the max air torque table.


Biggest thing is to make sure you run a 8psi sprign as per factory.

thanks man, yeah I need to try that I guess. Car is on a 8lb spring right now. Too bad I didn't see this earlier had the car on the dyno this afternoon and it was pissing me off lol. Kept closing the Throttle up top though, can't figure that one out as of yet.

38mm Turbosmart gate.
was going to an absolute TPS of 69% above 6300 rpm. No matter what I changed it still did the same shit.

Post some logs. I'll have a peep. maybe a torque table was missed?
Or the gate is having difficulty controlling boost on the top end and the pcm is closing the throttle to prevent overshoot?

I think I screwed up something in the tune possibly. I'm going to start from scratch this week. Load was reading weird, it was rising then dropping off after 5700rpm down to @72% it was also a little choppy. I dunno, I'm new to the LNF PCM. I'll get the hang of this animal though.

Thanks for the advice, swapped out to a dual stage MBC last night, re tuned. 22 psi, car is an animal. Can't wait to get it back on the dyno. No more throttle closing which is fantastic.
