Thumbs up Taking Pontiac's new G8 to the next level

One of our goals for this year was to shoot for 700 RWHP on pump gas in a completely streetable G8. Mission accomplished!

Our flagship car is a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT with 7,000 miles on the odometer. Current engine mods include:

    APS intercooled twin turbo kit
    Magnaflow 3" dual exhaust system
    Custom 4-gallon surge tank (trunk-mounted)
Dual Walbro GSS392 inline fuel pumps
AN -6 fuel lines (dual feed and single return)
    Aeromotive LS7 fuel rails (modified)
    Siemens 60 pounds/hour fuel injectors
Aeromotive fuel pressure regulator (60 psi)
    Katech connecting rod bolts
AFM (DOD) and LOMA disabled and removed
    CompCams custom camshaft
    LS7 lifters
LS2 cam gear and timing chain
    TFS chrome moly pushrods
    Pac 130 pound valvesprings
    Titanium valvespring retainers
    ARP head studs
    Powerbond harmonic balancer
AEM Tru Boost electronic boost controller
    Autolite AR103 spark plugs @ .035" gap
    INTENSE 160 degree thermostat
    INTENSE Custom Dyno Tune
    Sunoco 94-octane pump gas

Red lines = completely stock car only one week old

Blue lines = all mods installed and custom dyno tune completed

INTENSE-Racing was able to make this happen along with help from the following people:

+ HP Tuners (provided tuning hardware and software)
+ David from APS (manufactured intercooled twin turbocharger kit and provided fuel system guidance)
+ Mike from New Era Performance (recommended cam specs and provided most valvetrain components)
+ Bob from B & R Racing (installed our custom designed fuel system and engine internals)
+ Brian from Dyno Tune Motorsports (assisted with the custom dyno tuning)

Wow, nice. How much do you have in it for those parts approx?

Am I correct in reading that the stock AFR was dipping down in the 10's NA? Good grief.

    Very nice numbers!

Yeah I was thinking the same thing about the AFR on that stock run. That thing was pretty damn rich, shows what factory tunes give you.

What they give you is a 100k mile warranty on a set of very expensive emissions components. (The cats!) Running leaner can heat them up enough to bake the coating right off them (or melt them completely), making for an instant emissions failure. I seriously doubt the 700hp variant passes the EPA's tier II Bin 5 ULEV standard. Many people on here may not care about emissions, but the OEM doesn't have that luxury. If they don't pass emissions, they are not legally allowed to sell it.
