    Stock truck worth tuning?

My 07 Avalanche 5.3 with DOD and cat back only. Is it really worth me taking the time to learn this damm gen 4. The VE tables look like a PITA to do. The 99Z looks very simple compaired to this. And at least with the Z there is a plie of mods so tuning was a must and big hp maker.

Guys with stock trucks, did you get much for MPG or performance? I am not talking about the neck snaps from jacking up the shift points and psi.

When I tuned my 2010 in stock form, the difference was VERY noticeable. That was a 6.2L w/6L80E. Gained about 1-2 mpg hyw. I did tune the transmission right away too because of the crappy shift points from the factory. Definitely was more responsive and "felt" like another 20HP from "seat of the pants". YMMV.

Yes, it runs on E85 too and LOVES it! ;D

Maybe you should just data log it and see if its way off. If so its time for a tune. If not, why spend the credits.. BTW, hows the camaro running?

All to be touched on is AFR tuning and torque management, which there is tons of. Timing too in some cases.

I had the credits so thats not an issue. I adjusted the DOD a little so it kicks it from v8 to 4 cyl a little sooner.

As far as the camaro, its running real good. Still has the light surge from 1500-2000 rpm's. Tried a bunch of things but no dice. Plan on messing with the 02's to come on at 2000 rpms and I think it will be good to go.

Did you time the injectors to the cam?

To the Z. Search Injector boundary timing. Helps a ton with the surge.

Did you also check for timing surge?

Hey as far as your STFT lean issue, i figured it out. Tune car, then change stoich under fuel, general, to 14.4 from 14.7, that usually fixes STFT lean issues like numbers 4-5 on the lean scale, and its not the switchpoints that does this i found out.
