If the MAF is tuned right there is no performance gain for SD....
SD uses the VE table so there is more resolution, I havent tuned an N/A setup yet that was more than the MAF couldnt handle, but sometimes on more radical head/cam or FI setups you max out the MAF so SD is necessary.
