as long as you have the newest OS in your files yeah otherwise you'd need a tech 2 & subscription to get the latest cal. HPT will work on all OS' old or new.

right so HPT cannot upgrade the OS on the pcm, correct.
Only the Tech 2 can.
like i said if you have a newer os yeah you could load it in...it would probably require more credits though if you dont have hte unlimited year license though.

Tech2 is the preferred method of obtaining the latest O/S for your vehicle. If the PCM is not replaced you can then just read the new OS, apply your modifications, and then program it again. No additional credits should be necessary.
