OBD 1 diagnostics, what do you guys use?

I have a 95 Grand Am as a DD. My check engine light came on and Advance Auto lost their stuff to read it (go figure) so I figured I would see what I can get to have my own scanner. I just care to read codes.

What do you guys use for obd 1 diagnostic check? If its not fairly inexpensive, dont post lol I dont want to spend a lot, but if I can get something cheap, it would be nice to have.

I own an OTC its a 3K paper clip as far as im concerned. In fact I use a paper clip to pull the codes and only use the otc if I need more.

It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

If you just need the codes... Jump A&B with a paper clip. (Top right last two are a/b) Then turn the Key on Engine off and count the flashes.

Do you have a 12 or 16 pin DLC?

Ok the 16 Pin OBDI Needs a scan tool, The 12 Pin DLC doesnt. I can only assume that its mounted upsidedown. Should be...

    FExxBA
    GxxxLM

    (A) ground
    (B) Diagnosic terminal
    (E) Serial Data
    (G) Keyless entry
    (F) Tcc
    (M) Serial Data
    (L) Serial Data

You may not have all the pins above. Just jump the two pins next to each other. If its the wrong pins no worries, It wont fry anything like OBDII

    mine is like this

    xxxxx1
    xxxx11

one denoting a pin, the top right is a black wire, which I assume to be ground. If it was mounted any other way, it would look like your FEG part of your post. I only have 3 pins in the connector.
