The short answer is - you will not find an original 4L80 calibration with that OS.

OS 12606961 is an update of OS 12592618. GM rolled out this update to 2005 5.3L light duty trucks only. These were never equipped with the 4L80 transmission.

You could switch to the earlier 2005 OS (12592618), which would then afford a 4L80 segment swap.

    Any response from experienced tuners?

I received a response today for my help ticket addressing this same issue. Basically, they said OS 12606961 will not support a 4L80E segment swap and I will need to burn another 2 credits to make this happen. I replied asking for the details of my license, i.e. is it attached to the VIN, PCM serial number or that specific tune file, and can I revert back to the original 12592618 which does support a segment swap. Maybe we could download a 12592618 tune and use the VIN changer (If the credits are attached to the VIN). Any response from experienced tuners? I'm not trying to dodge the credit system, but I find it hard to understand why two gentlemen with the same everything (2005 LM7, 4L60E, P59) and one has to pay double? Every thread about this seems to die without closure.

slapping someone elses file into your vehicle rarely ends well which is why it isn't recommended. You are free to try however when it takes 4 more credits to do so and the car still doesn't run right its on you.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Sorry Bill, I didn't mean for it to come across negative. I'm only suggesting a 12592618 OS because it was offered in our trucks (same make, model, year, engine, trans, P59 controller) and we can segment swap. Question though, why another 4 credits as opposed to 2?

Jon's and HP Tuners recommendation is confirmed. I licensed the older OS and wrote entire. Segment swap is good and everything runs well! To anyone is doing LS/4L80e swaps, I'd avoid OS 12606961.

Murphy, I just had the pleasure of getting a 12606961 for an 80e segment swap tune. Glad someone else has experienced this, did you have any issues with VIN difference after flashing to older OS version?

You should be able to change the VIN as the 12592618 OS is used in the same vehicles as 12606961.

I second ScarabEpic22's response. I just confirmed that my original VIN carried over to the new OS. I'm not sure if I selected anything during write entire to ensure that happened or if it was automatic. Either way, it should be a non-issue for you.
