i have the latest HPT version on my laptop but i cant upload any tune from any GM car/truck unless i licence it first..it keeps telling me its a security thing or something. anyone have any idea????

yeah, if your trying to read a vehicle you dont have a license for it will ask you to license it. This is all covered in the help file http://www.hptuners.com/help/getting...ng_the_vcm.htm which I suggest you read over at least once.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...

Also, if your vehicle has been locked by someone else, you will not be able to read/license it.
