samethign happened to me, i read my pcm it didnt start and i needed it in the am
i just disconnected the neg cable and bam it started.. good luck man

hmmm...
okay so the first thing is, there is no way you can harm your PCM by reading it.
It sounds like you need to pull the fuse to to the PCM or disconnect the battery to reset the it. Leave things disconnected for about 30 secs then reconnect. The car should start fine.
Now for the reading issue you have can you pls email the output of the VCM Info program to [email protected].
