Adding more info for those looking to dial in their MAF.....

....logging with SCT perform the following:

    1. Convert MAF frequency (kHz) to period http://www.calctool.org/CALC/other/converters/freq (convert the frequency to period and look at MAF Airflow vs. Period under Airflow > General > MAF Calibration)
    2. Looking at STFT....focus on trims that are > than 2% for a given frequency.
    3. If you are seeing trims in the negative then the airflow per period cell is too high. Determine the % off and multiply the current value for the cell by the % off. Subtract the % off from the current cell value. I.E. 40.23*.05-40.23=38.21 Do this for every point that is >2% off (average bank1 and bank2 to determine the % off).
    4. If you are seeing trims in the positive then the airflow per period cell is too low. See above to correct except ADD the % different off from the current cell value. I.E. 40.23*.05+40.23=42.24
    5. Once corrected perform the same logging as before. Review the log and make adjustments as needed until you see STFT no greater than 2%.

To dial in I logged steady state RPM for low airflow values and then performed several WOT runs in 3rd from 2,500 to 7,000. It will take a few runs/logs to dial in but this worked for me without issue.

If I tuner has both SCT and HP Tuners, it's OK. But if the tuner only has HP Tuners. So far I haven't seen a way to log the maf to dial in the fuel trim.

You need to pm Eric to get your strategy added. He has to add the PIDs for each strategy, so yours probably hasn't been done. I believe he is on vacation as he hasn't posted lately, so give him time to get it added.

I believe some of the HPT method has been discussed in this thread. When I get more time to play with the scanner I'll post up a method that worked for me.

What else could you possibly have to do?

A matter of what to log and how to interpolate. Then make the needed changed to achieve the desired results.

HPT logging is far superior to SCT. It's just a matter of becoming familiar with the "how to".

10-4. I wish I had all the answers but I don't. I don't mind sharing the small bit I have learned over the past year.

Update on my MAF issues. I have begun to look at non tune issues that may cause my problems.
When I crank my car cold with vacuum off of regulator, it reads 58lbs. Right where is it supposed to be. Plug in the vacuum and it drops to 51lbs.
After a 20 minute drive, I check it again and with vacuum off it reads 51lbs and drops to 44lbs with vacuum plugged in.
I've been in contact with the fuel system vendor and he referred me to the regulator manufacturer. I have sent them an email requesting support, so we will see what they say.
Guess I should have been looking at non tune issues sooner, but I just figured I was doing something wrong in the tune.

I've been doing it about half as long as you, but I don't seem to be retaining info as well as I used to. I guess age is catching up to me.

86.69 #/min is merely a limit for the OBDII PID dimensioning. In other works, the data value of the PID is clipped at 86.69 #/min but the MAF will continue to register and the PCM continue to calculate above this clip. Its only the data output that is clipped.

Ok, thanks for the info. Just wanted to make sure I didn't need to scale anything.

What is the difference between MAF Airflow vs Voltage and MAF Airflow vs Period. In other words which table is being used by the PCM and do you need to calibrate both tables?
