..and everything went fine until it got to line 5: Reading Entire VCM where it said it failed.
What does this mean and what do I do?

Year model engine?
Make sure car is on a charger while reading or it can get to low of voltage before finishing. Plug laptop into external power source not inside car. Also if you can remain within reach of Internet connection speeds things up after read by not having to move all over the place.

if it has command start unplug the fuses

I thought I wasn't supposed to keep the laptop plugged in to an external power source during tuning? Something to do with two different voltage levels?
Is command start just another term for remote start via the keyfob?
No if its plugged into the car it drains the battery lower than a safe threshold and the read quality gets distorted.

email support with an infolog & screenshot of the error.
It doesn't have to be perfect, it just needs to be done in two weeks...
A wise man once said "google it"
I have the screen shot, how do I do an info log?
help tab, vcm suite info
click the get vcm suite info button next to the save icon while the interface is connected to the vehicles obd2 and the car is in run.
then save the info log that appears and send it into support for further diagnosis
