The output signal from the sensor is a 0-5v square wave.

I'll have to test the one i have here. I assumed it was a 12v square wave output.

Chris think I could test this on a 1250216 OS?

It's 0-5v, and the sensor actually pulls it to ground. The PCM uses an internal pull-up resistor on the input signal.

Any chance to get this added to the 12633016 & 12624402 OS?
Would love to put the fuel composition sensor on the G8.

So here's what you need to know:

    1. you have 2 PIDs to log:
    - Alcohol % (SAE)
    - Fuel Composition (Hz)

    2. Spark, the params of interest are:
    - Flex Fuel Spark (this is multiplied by the below then added to spark). It can be positive or negative so you can do all kinds of interesting stuff.
    - AFR Correction Mult vs. Composition (this is used for all gas/alcohol spark blending Flex FUel Spark and PE/COT Spark) - typical numbers here are 0, 0.25, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0 (cals that are all 0's need to be fixed up)

    3. Fuel params:
    - open loop tables and PE tables on newer OS's blend between gas and alcohol tables using blend factor below
    - blend factor 0 is gas table, 1 is alcohol, 0.5 is middle, you get the idea. (usually this has values in it, again fix if all 0's)
    - Note: if your stoich table has a flex fuel cal in here you need to set it to something constant across the whole table (ie. gas numbers) otherwise as you change the freq, the stoich will change.
    - obviously you need to be open loop for the fuel stuff to work.

I don't know which pin the sensor input is on the ECM, sorry!

Let me know how it goes.

Post up other OS's and i'll add them first. Once we're all happy it works i'll start the process of adding to everything.

    Chris...

I'd be thrilled to have this on 12637084 (2010 Camaro SS). Do you need me to post a file for it?

The 2010 E38 has the ability for the sensor since it uses the same ECM as the 2011 Chevrolet Caprice PPV with E85 sensor. Pin 40
Never dug into it much more than that.

Ok, I have everything here. I just need time to get inside my fender and add the pin. I have a flex fuel sensor here that I'm going to feed fuel into, and also have a signal generator built to spit out 50, 75, 100, 125, and 150Hz to this the pin. I am going to try and tackle this over the weekend.

Nice work Dave!!! Give me a shout when you figure something out with your module, I'd like to purchase one to test myself.

I have to take it beyond a breadboard but I'll let you know. I need to see if the PCM gets pissed about a pulse width longer than 5ms.

Pretty damn close. Lol. Now I just need the damn time to pipe this into the wire I added. Guess I need my cable back from my buddy too. Not enough time in a day.

Anybody interested in testing one, let me know. They won't be free to test though (hardware costs money!).

Bill told me to post here to try and get these two OS added.

I'm wanting to use the 13577429 - Sensor and the connecter for it 13352241

I should be able to just wire this in and run it to pin 40 on the ECM.

Dave that is the old expensive sensor
The new ones are much cleaner looking as I'm sure you know.

Nice!!! I don't have a personal E38 car to test this on currently or I would test this for you.

The new ones are cheaper, but apparently less reliable. Three different GM techs that I know all said the same thing, so I grabbed that older style one with pigtail for $125 shipped.

    Where from?

Been looking for one to use on my Gen3 application that I plan on enabling FLEX fuel on.

James if your just testing go to the junk yard. Find one off a 2002 to 2005 year gm truck. The sensor is on the frame on the driver side. Or you can find them on ebay.
