I've had my PLX wideband hooked up for quite a while and have always had trouble with it getting 'stuck'. The problem, and I knew this, is that the kit came with a Molex plug and some pins, required assembly. My hook up with the pins and wire was never good. Recently I decided to put the effort in to fix it once and for all.
Research taught me that the square Molex connector used was the same as a Pentium 4 power connector. Got one of those and spliced it in, no more pin connection issues. Got the connector for 5 bucks on Amazon ( search Cables Unlimited ATX to P4 Power Adapter ).
The kit also came with a capacitor to serve as a noise filter. I realize it can be used without the capacitor but since I'm working on this already I'd like to go ahead and put it in. My question is, how does it go?
The instruction say put it as close to the 'device', in this case the MVPI, as possible. Can I do this safely in this way:
Was thinking of simply soldering one leg of the cap to the end of each wire where it goes into the green wire block that attaches to the MVPI. Basically the end of the wire and the leg of the capacitor both go into the green block and get tightened down as normal. Will this work properly?
Is there risk to having the capacitor connecting directly into the MVPI like this?
