    96 vortec ecu swap to a 98 pcm?

    will hp tuners care that it is a 96 truck but connection to a 98 pcm? not wanting to get credits if does not work.. first for me, thanks..

    The hptuners module only communicates with PCM and TCM modules. If you install a 98 PCM, that is all the module cares about, will not know the differance. It will work fine as long as your re-pin is correct.

    No the ECU doesnt just swap out. But it can be repinned. If your going to switch ECU's, I would go to a 2001-2002 0411 ECU. Do a search on google for 0411 PCM swap. I just did this to a 96 Chevy Blazer, and I highly recommend it. HP tuners has TONS better support for the newer 0411 PCM. I can PM you a link to the guy you want to talk to for the excel file for the pinout (I would post it, but due to the guys request, he doesnt want the files posted online). The pinout file he offers is free, and is very easy to change over PCM's using the file. And its HIGHLY recommended. What kind of vehicle do you have?
